My Self-Summary

My name is John. I enjoy intelligent conversation as well as witty banter. I am easily amused and very difficult to anger. My job as a security guard allows me to deal with all kinds of people so that has developed a deep quality of listening and understanding people's issues. I am a very honest person, sometimes to a fault. I can be as comfortable at a candle lit dinner as well as snuggled on a couch with a bowl of popcorn. I consider myself high class but low maintenance. Class and honor are things you personally exude, not the products of material wealth. The most important quality to me is honesty. I just have no patience for lying. Politically, I am a conservative leaning libertarian.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently I am taking classes online to receive my Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. Later I hope to receive my Master's in Criminal Psych. The main goal is to become a constitutional lawyer. I am looking for other work as well as working at the jobs I have, doing my best to make it through today's economy. When not working on either of those I am usually working out and running, reading or browsing the web.

I’m really good at

I have been training in martial arts since I was 10 years old so I am much more agile than I appear. I have an excellent memory. I am good with my hands as far as mechanical things. I have done carpentry work, electrical work as well as repairing firearms. I am a law nerd so I have great reading comprehension skills. I also catch on very well to learning new tasks and material.

The first things people usually notice about me

My voice, once I speak. I have a deep and booming voice. It developed at age 12. I had a hard time getting dates in high school because when I called girl's houses their parents thought I was some 40 year old man trying to date their daughters.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Oh, boy that's a hard answer to narrow down. Well I read mostly non-fiction. Legal studies, case law, history and lots of other reference like material. If I am going to spend butt to seat time reading something, I want to get up feeling like I learned something. I enjoy poetry, I'm just not going to spend money on it to read it.
I like alternative rock, some new but mostly 90's. I have a thing for Irish folk music. The history behind it really gets to me.
I like horror movies, even the goofy old ones. Action flicks interest me if it can hold a decent plot. I enjoy comedies as well as satire as a whole. British comedy is a favourite. I have a dry sense of humor. I enjoy gallow humor so I can watch a horror comedy and like it. Some of my all time favorites include Dark City, Sin City, 300, The Shadow and Rob Roy.

The six things I could never do without

1. Air (preferably an oxygen and nitrogen mix)
2. Water (clean please)
3. Meat (anything except seafood because of allergies)
4. Fresh fruits and vegetables (I raise a garden every year to stock up)
5. The ability to go outdoors (I was would lose my mind in prison. I am a big outdoors man.)
6. Books (I gotta keep my mind occupied)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Future of politics and law. It may seem boring but it is a big influence in people's lives whether they like it or not. The more I learn about the law, the more I find to gripe about, the more I see potential cases when I get where I want to be. I day dream about hunting, trapping, going to the firing range when next I get a chance.

On a typical Friday night I am

I usually work late Friday night. I come home, check email, read and go to bed. Saturday is usually my night to have any fun.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I am man enough to admit that there are some films that will jerk a tear out of me. It is a rarity, but it does happen.
