I've been back in Omaha for about two years after 12 years away off
exploring, learning, teaching, singing, cooking, and reading. I
love a night out, dinner and drinks, game nights, dancing and
spending time with friends just as much as an evening cuddled up on
the couch with a movie. I never turn down an opportunity to spend a
day with roller coasters or evenings with fireworks.
I love live music and want nothing more than to be swallowed up in
the middle of a crowded dance floor. Also to sit quietly in a
coffee shop and people watch. I'd like to find someone who is
willing to get squished in a large crowd with me, to walk in the
nature with me, and sit in comfortable silence with me.
I've been single for a while and am really ready and looking for a
relationship with all it's ups and downs. If you're that unicorn,
by all means, drop a line!
What I’m doing with my life
Teaching the children, reading the books, watching ridiculous
amounts of HBO, exploring the town, making new friends, and
reclaiming life in Nebraska.
I’m really good at
cooking, singing, not acting my age, snuggling, exploring, jumping
out of my skin at the oh-so-predictable scare spots in horror
movies, walking in high heels, baking, dreaming, scheming, drinking
large amounts of diet coke, and more - but of course.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told I have a wicked grin. Wicked in a good sense.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a lot of fiction and have a penchant for post-war lit in the
Gatsby, Bell Jar, and Salinger sense of the word. I've also been
reading a fair amount of young adult lit these days... The Hunger
Games series holds a very special place in my heart and I've just
finished reading the Harry Potter series.
I love a good (and bad) movie. I'm very excited to get back to the
theatre more and more these days and hope to continue to do so. I
don't generally enjoy chick flicks, but am down for just about
Can we just pause for a minute and talk about the awesomeness that
is Dr. Who?! Seriously. I could teach an entire course with this
stuff. Eleven is definitely my Doctor. That, and bowties are
I love all kinds of music - from classical to hip hop to country to
euro pop to jazz and blues. I don't care too much for electronica,
but I've found bouts of amazingness in most genres. Always on the
lookout for a new song or band.
I am not a gourmand, by any means, but I do love to cook. I firmly
believe that one of the most intimate things you can do is to
prepare and share a meal together. I like a wide variety of foods -
but if worse came to worse, I could eat sushi every day.
I don't do macaroni and cheese, though I keep trying. I love trying
new places and styles of food.
The six things I could never do without
In (almost) no particular order:
1. Diet Coke
2. My Ukrainian cat, Melo
3. My Peace Corps cookbook
4. Def Poetry Jam
5. Good friends and family
I spend a lot of time thinking about
movie quotes, the urge to dance, the amazingness of lululemon
yogaware, how much easier, though less stylish, it would be for me
if 80s hair came back in style, what's for dinner, making tea, my
next tattoo, etc....
On a typical Friday night I am
Is there a typical Friday night? Movies, dinner and drinks, couch
and tv, game nights, cuddling up with a good book and the kitten..
depending on the mood, the inclination, and the company.. it's all
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I met Ben Folds at a concert in college. I was so star-struck, I
clammed up like a giddy schoolgirl and couldn't manage even my
name. Because I am the epitome of smooth.
You should message me if
If you're awesome - of course.
And if you're willing to actually take a chance and get together.
I'm more of a let's meet for a drink or coffee and see how things
go. It's entirely too easy to blow someone off online who may
actually be kind of legit in real life. So let's do the awesome
thing. Let's just cut the cord and meet, yes? yes.
