My Self-Summary
this often seems to involve a laptop, my bicycle, plants, music, words, cinema - in various combinations..
What I’m doing with my life
in both the work and play spheres...
and actually in gradually blending them together over time..
I’m really good at
- fitting too much into the week, then decompressing over the weekend...
- diving under saltwater waves and feeling the rush of shorebound water over my skin...
- absorbing truckloads of media..
- being optimistic
- inspiring people
- procrastinating ( and so are you if you have an account and have gotten down to here.. .)
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
not as much as I'd like to be reading lately, but probably reading more words overall, albeit via shorter articles online.. plan on diving back into some longer immersive fiction soon, and enjoy illuminating well written non fiction too, and the way it tends to reframe your world when you walk around with a brain full of it..
The Book of Leviathan - Peter Blegvad
Epileptic by David B
Dave Egger, Don De Lillo, Jeff Noon, Haruki Murakami, and no I don't think I can do this, there are too many...
cinema?
too much to mention, generally arthouse, doco, comedy, drama.. usually some blend of aesthetics, provocation and humour...
best of 2008 for me? man on wire
music?
rhythm, melody, soundscapes.. aye, love em all, love music, and it comes in too many forms to list...
Kid Koala, DJ Krush, no really, the list is too long.. i cant do it..
food? have been vegetarian a long time, but occasionally lapse into seafood these days ( where is the militancy and dogma of my youth?! )
Give me a mango smoothie with a hint of coconut cream, pop me in a hammock, and i wont complain...
The six things I could never do without
I'd have to add the internet... bicycles ( though I have gone without in Istanbul ), cinema, music, eye and sparkly brain contact, touch
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
a) reinventing dance
b) adjusting my hang glider
c) watching a movie
d) fulfilling my professional masseur duties
e) wondering if i should be wearing earplugs
f) adjusting my brain chemistry
g) abseiling down the side of buildings with a backpack full of glow-in-the-dark paint
h) convening a late night session of my philanthropic foundation.
or
i) all of the above
