My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Okay, it has been a year since I started online-dating. I have met some wonderful people, but I have yet to meet “the one”. I have decided to add more in-depth information to my profile that gives a better idea of who I am and what I am looking for. As far as my pics go, I swapped out most of them to give people a better idea of my personality.

I am: intelligent, well-spoken, fun, funny, a good listener, honest, transparent, genuine, a gamer, a home brewer, a music lover, a geek, young at heart, open-minded, tolerant, open to new experiences, affectionate, passionate.

I am looking for someone that: is kind, confident, is affectionate, is passionate, is loving, has a great sense of humor, is open-minded, is not shallow, has a wild side, is open to new experiences, will allow me to be myself, I can be totally comfortable with, will not feel awkward after more than 5 seconds of silence, will accept me for who I am.

Hey, are you still here? Awesome! Read on…

Now that the quick and easy descriptions are out of the way, allow me to elaborate. I have a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology. I work at a local food safety laboratory in the Quality Control department. I make sure everyone is doing their job correctly, and if not, I crack the whip....okay, not a literal whip...that would be illegal, but a figurative whip.

Yes, I can make you laugh...did you not just catch my "whip joke"? That is grade-A stuff...okay, maybe it was lame, forget it...moving on.

I want to hear about your life and what you have been through, good or bad. We can share happy stories, horror stories, and everything in between. If you have questions about my life, just ask, I will answer, no matter what the topic may be. It is difficult to embarrass me.

I like to exercise. I run on a semi-regular basis, weather permitting. I like to go to the pool to swim and soak up the rays in the Summer. I also have dumbbells I exercise with in my apartment. Why are you laughing? Stop laughing! Okay, okay…I get it, I am skinny…scrawny, if you will, but I am hell of a lot stronger than I look. *Rawwrrr*

I love watching movies. I will watch pretty much any genre. However, some of the movies that are aimed more at the female population, I do not care for. See? I was being politically correct, I did not say, “chick flick”. Some of my favorite movies: Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, The Big Lebowski, The Shawshank Redemption, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Clerks, Natural Born Killers, Office Space.

Music. I love music. I need it every day. Put it directly into my ears. Eww….sorry. I will listen to, or tolerate nearly every genre, with one exception. Country. If you like it, that is fine, I will not knock it, but I just do not care for it. Some of my favorite bands, off the top of my head: Alice in Chains, Björk, Tool, Nirvana, Coldplay, Failure, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Circa Survive, Silversun Pickups, R.E.M., Ken Andrews, Year of the Rabbit, Blinker the Star, Tori Amos, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Atoms for Peace, Thom Yorke, Crash Test Dummies, Tenacious D, Enigma, Gorillaz, A Perfect Circle, Soundgarden, Silverchair.

Alright, here we go, here comes the potential deal breaker…I am a geek. Yes, I have several geeky hobbies and qualities. I am unapologetic about all of them. They are part of who I am. So, allow me to just get them out of the way.

I love reading. Stephen King is my favorite author. I am currently on a quest to read every book he has written. That is not the geeky part though, the next part is. I read comic books, not so much "men in tights" though. To give you a better idea, some of the current comic books I am reading pertain to things like: space travel, artificial intelligence, rampant contagions, serial killers, dreams, and extra-terrestrial beings. I am willing to bet I can introduce a comic book to you that you would appreciate. A group of friends and I go to several comic book conventions every year. No, I do not dress-up in costume. You will not find me at a convention, dressed like Tarzan, King of the Jungle, in a loin cloth…..although…I do have those cave man pics, but that is a story for another time.

I am a huge craft beer fan. I love visiting breweries to try what is on tap, and I love buying and trying new beers. I also home brew, that is right, I brew my own beer. Some of it is delicious, some of it is awful. Good or bad, I always learn something from every batch. I like having friends and family over for beer tastings. I call the bottom of my pantry in my small, one-bedroom apartment, "The Beer Cellar". Yes, people laugh at me when I take them down to The Beer Cellar...and by, "take them down", I mean, squat in front of my pantry.

I am a gamer as well, but not at the expense of social interaction. I like playing multi-player games with a group of people in-person. That is always a good time. I always choose going out with friends or family over staying-in and sitting in front of the television. Speaking of television....

I do not have cable, satellite, or even the capacity to watch local channels. No, I do not watch television, but that is only partly true. If I am interested in watching a show, I will either download it or buy it, and watch it without commercials on my own time. Years ago, I became a slave to my DVR, I had enough, I pulled the plug. With that being said, I have a few guilty pleasures that I am not afraid to admit. I love…LOVE…LOOOOVE Mystery Science Theater 3000. It is the single best television show that ever was. What? You never heard of it? Oh…this atrocity will not stand. I will show you. No, you do not have a choice. I love....LOVE....Big Brother. It is my favorite, currently-airing, television show. I am not sorry.

So, yes, I am a geek, but if it is of any comfort to you, the geeks on Big Bang Theory are on a whole different level. If I were to enter the room with that bunch, first they would look at me funny, then when I tried to hang in their conversation, they would promptly show me the door.

Here is the part where honesty and transparency come into play, like I mentioned at the beginning. As far as kids go, I am truly undecided. At this point in my life, no, I do not want kids. Can I see myself in the future wanting them, yes. I want someone I can connect with in every way. I want someone who speaks the same language that I do. I want someone who allows me to be myself with zero judgement. I want someone who I can feel completely comfortable around. I want someone who is as affectionate as I am. I want someone who is as passionate as I am in the bedroom. I want someone who is content with the way they look and will not hide any part of themselves from me. Believe me, I am not physically perfect either. I have bad allergies that require me to be on several medications year round. I have ulcerative colitis, an intestinal disease that also requires year round medication and colonoscopies every two years. Thankfully, it has been in remission for years now. I have also been dealing with chronic acne since my twenties. This year I have altered my diet for the better, in an attempt to become healthier from the inside out. I have also been working towards a healthier mind as well. I began seeing a therapist this year for two reasons. Reason number one; due to a failed ten year marriage and a subsequent three year relationship, I realized this year that I had a fear of commitment. Reason number two; I have an issue mentally letting go once I have become close with someone and then the relationship ends. I am happy to say that I have just very recently overcome both of these issues, in a bitter twist of irony or Greek tragedy, due to a five week relationship that sadly came to an abrupt end. Even as old as I am, I am still evolving into a better person. No one is perfect. Every one of us is flawed.

If there is one thing this past year of dating has taught me about myself, it is my self-worth. One year ago, I did not have much confidence, and I certainly had no ego. The few women that I was fortunate enough to date have all paid me extremely flattering compliments regarding my personality and every aspect of being a partner. Over time, these compliments started to sink-in, however, I refuse to let it go to my head. The point is, I know that I make a good partner and I should never settle. So I will not.

I am not looking for a one-night stand. I am not looking to waste your time, or my time. If you are not “feeling it”, just say so, and I promise to do the same. If it does not work, no harm, no foul, we go separate ways with zero resentment.

How is that for honesty?

If anything I have said is at all appealing to you, and you would like to know more about me, please let me know. Do not be afraid/shy/hesitant to message me.

As far as first dates go, I like simple first dates with dinner, drinks, and good conversation. That makes the most sense to me because it is a great way to focus on getting to know each other. Second date and on, I am up for anything.
