I’m a 23 year old girl with red hair and a good memory, vices for red wine, books and vintage dresses and a reasonably pretty face. We should be friends.

I’m sweet and actually quite shy, which I attempt to hide behind a mask of irony, self-deprecating humour, animated gestures and curling my hair around my fingers. But I love talking to new people and having longwinded, bizarre conversations into the middle of the night.

I’m a former English student and a freelance writer, and so I tend to like arty things and wordy things and every kind of music under the sun. Creative things, essentially. I love staying out late, and I try to go to gigs and new bars and performances as often as I can. I also go for long aimless walks to strange, pretty places, but that’s not as important. And although they say Sydney’s a big place, lately it seems pretty small, and I feel like I’m meeting the same people over and over again. And it’s getting old. So the aim is to expand my circles and meet awesome, interesting people. Plus, you know, I was bored.

I finished Honours last year, and since then I've been writing for a variety of thoroughly decent publications with the hopes of one day being able to pay my rent with writing and not have to substitute it with part-time tedium. The rest of the time I’m generally sitting on my bed with my head in a book or sitting with friends at a bar, our heads together in a manner which has been described by more than one stranger as ‘really fucking cute.’

Books: Everything by Murakami, Bukowski, Joan Didion, Roberto Bolano, Cormac McCarthy, plus The Man With The Golden Arm, Lolita, Anna Karenina, Franny & Zooey, Ask The Dust, The Golden Notebook, Brideshead Revisited, By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept, and on and on it goes. I’m an English major. Go figure.

Movies: Pierrot le fou, Breathless, Donnie Darko, The Virgin Suicides, 24 Hour Party People, The Royal Tenenbaums, All About My Mother, Heartbeats. Also, Pretty in Pink is one of the greatest movies ever.

Music: So much. Nick Cave, The Smiths, The xx, PJ Harvey, Zola Jesus, Beach House, Rowland S Howard, Crystal Castles, Radiohead, HTRK, Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, The Arcade Fire, Cults, Jack Ladder and the Dreamlanders, Joanna Newsom, Laura Marling, Los Campesinos!, The Strokes, Toro Y Moi, Xiu Xiu, Patrick Wolf, The National, Joy Division, The Horrors, Beirut, sixties pop songs and early nineties rap.
