I love making fun of things. Like a teenage boy, if I have a crush on you, I will tease you incessantly (tease me back and I'm hooked). I'm self-effacing at times, and sometimes shy around strangers, but at my best I am full of energy and confidence. I'm a music hound who could spend all day in an art museum - if it's a great one, I can get that dreamy look of awe in my eye with the best of them; if it's a lousy one, I'll revel in secret jokes and half-stifled guffaws. I hate staying in the same place for too long (I've lived and worked in Prague and Glasgow and I've hiked the AT) but I'm loyal and I like to come home and watch movies, too.

I'm an editor and reporter at a major NYC newspaper.

Making people laugh. I'm not afraid to risk injury or embarrassment in this regard.

My big feet. Size 16.

a) I was an undergrad lit major at NYU. I love to read. Some of my favorite books, off the top of my head: Underworld (DeLillo), Lolita (Nabokov), Fountainhead (Rand), Bell Jar (Plath), LOTR (Tolkien), Good Soldier Svejk (Hasek), Breakfast of Champions (Vonnegut), High Fidelity (Hornby), Clockwork Orange (Burgess)...there are just too many. Trying to read more non-fiction lately, too.

b) La Vita e Bella, Field of Dreams, Twin Peaks (ok, it's a TV show, but still, it's on DVD), Mulholland Drive, The Fountain, Groundhog Day, The Princess Bride, Office Space, Old School, In America, Monty Python films, Coen Bros. and Todd Solondz films...again, too many to list.

c) My favorite band is an indie band called the Innocence Mission, although another band called Shearwater is making a serious run. My favorite current songwriter is Will Oldham. Other favorites: R.E.M., Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, the Decemberists, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Yo La Tengo, the Cure, the Beatles, Wilco, They Might Be Giants, Radiohead, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Gillian Welch, Iris Dement, Joni Mitchell, Joanna Newsom, Kate Bush, The Mountain Goats, Kraftwerk, Led Zeppelin, Kings of Convenience, Maria Callas, Mig 21, Bjork, Velvet Underground, Counting Crows, The Smiths, Simon & Garfunkel, Kimya Dawson...keep running into the same problem here.

d) Pasta, Chinese, pasta, Indian, pasta, Mexican, pasta, heck, I like pretty much everything.

Music, books, friends, family, love, sleep.

I probably spend too much time thinking.

I work late on Friday nights, sadly.

I'm an open book.

You love to laugh. A great poem or song or book can make your day. You like a healthy argument and you don't take it personally. You're passionate and care deeply about what you love. You strongly object to what you feel is wrong - but you're not close-minded. You sometimes have a tough time shutting off your brain - but you're not afraid to be silly. And you're incredibly tolerant, understanding and patient - but for all the right reasons.
