My take: life is about doing all the interesting things that human
beings happen to do while not getting yourself killed. So, for
instance, I just signed up for my second improv class. I tend to
play this game where I am totally sarcastic one moment and then
entirely earnest the next. My friends (god bless those charitable
people) would describe me as intelligent, creative, passionate and
ambitious, so clearly I'm a catch. Plus, I'm Canadian, which means
I always try to be polite and friendly, actually apologize when I
bump into people, do my best to be a gentleman and will end up
trying to tell you how to dress for winter. I will also offer you
free health care but sadly, I've neglected my dog-sledding skills.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm the lawyer at a tech start-up that does stuff for the fashion
industry. For fun, I've started taking improv classes - you should
try it, it's being silly for grown-ups. Otherwise, I'm busy trying
out new places to eat, drink and be entertained or captivated in
NYC. Also, I'm spending a lot of time arguing with my friends why
American civilization is going to self-destruct any moment now.
I’m really good at
Finding places to sit in the shade at Bryant Park. Finding good
sushi in New York (which is harder than you think!).
The first things people usually notice about me
A sarcastic and goofy sense of humour. The fact that I spell humour
with a "u".
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Darkness, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Watchmen,

Staggering Work of Heart-Breaking Genius, Liar's Poker, Moneyball,
almost anything by Philip K Dick.
Movies and directors: Woody Allen, Passolini, Kurosawa, John Ford,
Hitchcock. I could watch Star Wars ten times over and then I could
go watch Singing in the Rain ten times over. Casablanca (the most
charming film ever made). Babe (yes, the movie with the talking
TV: the Wire, Arrested Development, Archer, West Wing (Aaron Sorkin
years), Justified, Project Runway, Star Trek, House of Cards,
Family Ties & the Cosby Show, the PBS News Hour, Yankees games.

so weird how people here have!)
Music: Elvis Costello, The Police, Leonard Cohen, The Clash, David
Bowie, Nas, Jurassic 5, Jay-Z, some Kanye, the Roots (Game Theory),
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Don Giovanni, Marriage of Figaro, Einstein on the

Foods/Dining: sushi, dim sum, matzah ball soup, Montreal bagels and
smoked meat. Actually, I'm curious enough to try anything, except
maybe beef liver. Or chicken liver.
The six things I could never do without
my laptop, my iPhone (so I can read the news anywhere), good sushi,
Netflx, the gym, Leonard Cohen songs.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Is there a better hamburger than Shake Shack in the city (and if
so, where?); performance poetry; politics; law; new media vs old
media; what city I should visit next (have only done DC so far...),
Philip K Dick stories;
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I played boys field hockey when I was kid for two years. Yup, I
went back for a second season.
