*I am currently seeing someone. I will be taking a hiatus from this here profile for a while (08.04.2013).
Bullet Points make things easier:
-I moved to Chicago on September 1st, 2012.
-I came from a land of oceans and mountains and banana slugs (the west coast).
-I came out to Chicago and decided to go to school.
-I am currently taking some classes at Harold Washington College (it's strange to be back in school after a decade).
-I am a nomad (in that I have moved over 30 times in my life).
-I was born in Olympia, WA (the land of K Records, Olympia Beer, and Geoducks).
-I spent the first 11 years of my life living in "The Oyster Capitol of the World" (South Bend, WA).
-I have lived on a small island in Alaska (Afognak).
-I have also lived in Brooklyn, New York (off Flatbush and also on Flushing between Bedford and Nostrand).
-I have lived in Portland, Oregon (Portlandia is a funny show).
-I have lived in Seattle, WA (grunge is dead).
-I was raised around loggers, fishermen, and mill workers. Because of this, I believe that cursing is part of my heritage (although I don't curse a whole lot).
-I love the sun and am not a fan of the rain (I attribute this to rebellion from living in the Pacific Northwest for the majority of my life).
-I like hand made things and am also a supporter of things being made in the USA.
-I have a French bulldog named Buttercup (but I call her Little Momma). I recently found out that she has renal failure and doesn't have much time left. This makes me sad.
-I like meeting people.
-I like riding my bike.
-I choose pie over cake (almost always).
-I like things that are natural (food, women, conversation, etc).
-I was raised to respect women.
-I grew-up watching a lot of sci-fi, martial arts, and horror movies (although, I don't watch them as much anymore).
-I brew my own beer.
-I grew-up in the NW where micro- and craftbeer has been a staple since the 80s. I can chat your ear off about beer style and culture.
-I like to wear fancy jeans and vintage button-up shirts.
-I own several ties, but hardly get the chance to wear any of them.
-My last girlfriend used to say I was "light skinned with good hair" (to answer a lot of questions: yes, she is black).
-I once tried to impress a girl by jumping her brothers bike off of a ramp he had made. When I was in mid-air, the handlebar grips came off the handlebars and I crashed. It was horribly embarrassing.
-I love oysters and think about them a lot.
-I enjoy going to Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles (I suggest upgrading to the pecan waffles for seventy-five cents more).
-I like exploring new places.
-I am in love with The Contemporary Art Museum of Chicago.
-I like telling stories.
-I like being told stories.
-I like to sing about strange things while I am doing something remedial.
-When I was a kid, I wanted to be a stand-up comedian.
-As an adult, I still want to be a stand-up comedian.
-I just took the "Long Personality Test" and this is my result...
ESFJ - The Provider
Providers, a subgroup of the Guardians, take it upon themselves to arrange for the health and welfare of those in their care, as well as being quite sociable. Wherever they go, Providers take up the role of social contributor, happily giving their time and energy to make sure that the needs of others are met, that traditions are supported and developed, and that social functions are a success. Providers are extremely sensitive to the feelings of others, which makes them perhaps the most sympathetic of all the types, but which also leaves them rather self-conscious, that is, highly sensitive to what others think of them. Because of this Providers can be crushed by personal criticism, and will work most effectively when given ample appreciation both for themselves personally and for the service they give to others. This is not to say that Providers are afraid to express their own emotional reactions. They are quick to like and dislike and don't mind saying so; tending to put on a pedestal whatever or whoever they admire, and to come down hard on those people and issues they don't care for. You share your type with 10% of the population.
As a romantic partner, you work hard to nurture and protect your relationships. You go to great lengths to maintain harmony and are motivated to resolve conflicts. You have a very clear idea of what is important to you and do best when your partner shares those same values. You want your partner to be loving, committed, and willing to support your frequently overwhelming feelings and reactions. You feel most appreciated when your partner is kind, considerate, and helpful, and compliments you often on your hard work in their behalf.
