My self-summary
I was born & raised in Michigan, and have lived in New York (the post-college what do I do with myself stage) and the San Francisco Bay Area (grad school) before coming to DC. I'm an urban planning and public transportation enthusiast, and I'm glad that DC gives me an opportunity to enjoy both. My bar trivia strengths are history, science/medicine, and geography, and my weaknesses are pop culture and sports.

You can hear my voice for about three seconds on an episode of This American Life. Famewise, it's been all downhill from there; my brother's dog has more Twitter followers than me.

I am friendly (if shy at first), polite, and sincere (even while telling lots of jokes).
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an auditor at a federal agency. I think the best way I can describe what that entails is that I am paid to be a Monday morning quarterback. I've also started doing volunteer income tax preparation, which has been pretty rewarding so far.

Outside of work, I like to cook, try out new restaurants/bars, go to restaurants/bars I already know are great, read, and banter. Since it's cold outside these days, I've been wearing sweaters a lot. Once it gets warmer, I'll resume my routine of taking Sunday walks through Rock Creek Park.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh, listening, remembering legal/regulatory citations, trivia, freaking out internally while keeping a relatively calm exterior, Scrabble, cooking, eating, sleeping. I probably can't give myself that much credit for this, but I have created a baroque station on Pandora that is just absolutely killing it right now.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have an odd, but always appropriate, sense of humor for the situation at hand. I also have quite the talent for discerning people's accents.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite foods: Pizza is my favorite, but I like nearly all cuisines. I like my food very, very spicy.
Movies: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (extended edition!), The Big Lebowski, The Lives of Others, the Planet Earth series, pretty much anything but romantic comedies.
Books: The Power Broker, Europe Central, Consider the Lobster, V., Nixonland, Neuromancer, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy & sequels.
Music: Project Pat, J.S. Bach, and most things in between.
The six things I could never do without
1. Pizza
2. C-SPAN (seriously the best set of channels on television)
3. My family
4. Books in hardcover
5. the Internet
6. Whiskey (this used to say "Bourbon," but I've gotten more ecumenical with my drinking).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Awful puns, what's going to be in the next issue of the Federal Register, how to win arguments (but not be too much of a jerk about it), witty rejoinders.
On a typical Friday night I am
probably reading or getting drinks with some friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've never had a driver's license.
