My Self-Summary
I work in/for a church...
I'm super laid back, and enjoy doing pretty much anything...
When I was 10 my sister shook me out of an apple tree (it was my own fault for climbing the tree, but her shaking the branches and throwing gross old apples didn't really help me stay in the tree... you decide who's to blame...)
I have mastered 5 different styles of whistling... (doooorktastic)
I'm a toucher (but not in the bad way.)
Generally, you'll find me with a smile on my face.
My life has been full, and I aim to enjoy all of it :)
I graduated from college last year, earning a degree in Theology, with minors in Educational Ministries, and Global and Urban Ministries.
I like to laugh, dance, teach, learn, play games, listen, and drive (and for a woman, I rock the house at driving :))
What I’m doing with my life
I've been working with youth for the past 6 years. the most amazing thing about working with kids is if you show them you care, if you listen, and care enough to be there for them, they'll actually listen to you, and respect you. and beyond that, seeing who kids choose to be as well as watching them grow into who they want to be is freakin amazing.
I pretend to be an artist, so I'm working on a set of (7) oils, and hope to have a place lined up for a show. Also, as I was in Kenya last year and took over 1300 photos, I'm in the process of hanging my photos for sale.
And for the last couple of years I've been teaching myself/learning how to play the guitar.
I’m really good at
Communication- I'm witty/ I've got witticisms. I can hold a conversation, and I drop kick confrontation (I tend to deal with "problems" and then move on, what point is there dwelling in the negative? also working with kids requires thick skin, so I've been primed)
I'm good at going with the flow, almost too good. see, I'm laid back. and plans changing don't really irk me.
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Movies: Gran Torino, Away We Go, Inglorious Basterds, Zombieland, Stranger Than Fiction, Hot Fuzz, Shaun Of The Dead, Office Space, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Pineapple Express, Observe and Report, Amelie, anything Tim Burton touches- The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, 9, Sleepy Hollow, Sweeny Todd, Coraline, Edward Scissor Hands ... The Royal Tenenbaums, The Darjeeling Limited, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic (basically, anything Wes Anderson does), Amelie...
Music: Alexi Murdoch, Arcade Fire, Barcelona, Blind Pilot, Bob Dylan, Bon Iver, Cat Power, The Colorful Quiet, Damien Rice, Death Cab For Cutie, The Decemberists, Elliot Smith, The Fray, Imogen Heap, Jack Johnson, Jack's Mannequin, John Vanderslice, Joshua James, Joshua Radin, Kings Of Leon, The Kinks, The Mama's And The Papa's, Matt & Kim, Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, Phoenix, Ra Ra Riot, Radiohead, Rogue Wave, The Rolling Stones, Silversun Pickups, Styx, The Velvet Underground...
Food: Indian, Mexican, Italian, Chinese... I don't discriminate. Its all good.
The six things I could never do without
2) Technology... (i.e. computer, cell, ipod) I'll just clump it all together and cheat a little...
3) My family and friends...
4) My beliefs- I went to school to study religion and I came out with a solid faith. Along with that, I found my voice, and the things I value are worth speaking up about. I know quite a few people who would rather believe in nothing so they never have to speak up. And thats pretty lame.
5) Trust- it seems to be elusive these days...
6) Chocolate milk.
