I am musical, philosophical, and witty.

My Self-Summary

I'm an active guy in his twenties who discovered what he wanted in life a little late and is now trying to make it happen.

I used to be a huge geek, then "grew up", violently rejected it, and eventually accepted my fate. I'm a bit of a geek now. I like video games and a bit of fantasy and sci-fi. (Thanks to my friend for introducing me to Star Trek: The Next Generation, I had managed to go through most of my life without enjoying that show. Not any more apparently!)

My views on things are generally moderate with a bit of a liberal hippie socialist lean. Basically, I recognize that the world is not going to suddenly stop fighting and hold hands, but there are steps that can be taken to make things a little better for all.

Creativity and art are important to me. I'm only just recently discovering this, and I'm looking to be exposed to new things. Art galleries and live music are great!

I enjoy playing sports casually. Kicking a soccer ball, throwing a frisbee, sucking at tennis, etc.

What I’m doing with my life

I am studying music and learning to play the mandolin. I will be applying to university for music/philosophy/history/all of the above in order to go to teacher's college. At the moment I'm working full time as a cook.

I’m really good at

I'm a pretty decent cook. I am also good at debate, and enjoy conversations with reasonable people who hold viewpoints that differ from mine.

The first things people usually notice about me

My razor-sharp wit, of course! Or the blond streak through my hair.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm not much of a novel reader. I prefer non fiction books, especially about history, philosophy, or music. I could pour through a book about the middle ages or the dawn of civilization for hours. When I do read fiction I enjoy a good mystery.

My favourite music mostly falls under rock or folk, but I enjoy some hip-hop, jazz, blues, a tiny bit of country, and the odd electronic song. A few bands I like are Talking Heads, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, R.E.M., Great Lake Swimmers, Them Crooked Vultures, The Police, The Beatles, Neko Case, Queen and Rush.

I like action and comedy movies, once in a while something thought provoking.

I love sushi! It's so good. Miso soup, avocado salad, vegetable tempura!

The six things I could never do without

-Music
-Creativity
-Good food
-Humour
-Spices
-My canteen (seriously, I drink so much water because of this thing)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I love philosophy. I think about ethics and the nature of things quite a bit. My brain also likes to come up with amusing ideas and instruct my mouth to share them with people! And music.

On a typical Friday night I am

If I'm not working I like to go downtown with friends to visit a pub and some live music. Live music isn't much in Barrie, but it's something! There are also the various summer festivals which can be fun.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I may become vegetarian in the near future!

You should message me if

You want to be active, debate, check out an art gallery or museum, discuss music, jam together, or think we could learn something from each other.

And please, I need more deep conversation in my life. I urge anyone who can talk about
