I read 2666 by Roberto Bolaño three or four years ago and I still
think about it almost every day. I once read The Book of Laughter
and Forgetting by Milan Kundera for a second time, completely
unaware I had read it a first time just a few months earlier. I
laughed. Other favorites include Julian by Gore Vidal, The
Corrections by Jonathan Franzen, The Elementary Particles by Michel
Houellebecq, The New York Trilogy by Paul Auster, White Noise by
Don DeLillo, Life: A User's Manual by Georges Perec, and The
Discovery and Conquest of Mexico by Bernal Diaz.
I have a weakness for gorgeously-surreal cinematography. eg.
Aguirre: The Wrath of God by Werner Herzog, Picnic at Hanging Rock
by Peter Weir, and the films of Luis Buñuel and Alejandro
Jodorowsky. Stanley Kubrick is my favorite director, all things
considered. Barry Lyndon and 2001 are my favorites of his. Woody
Allen is a close second.
I love discovering new music and equally love re-discovering
overlooked bands and artists. My playlist is always changing, so
instead of listing every band I've ever liked, I'll just give you a
glimpse of what I'm listening to at the moment: The Go-Betweens,
The Pastels, Wipers, Cocteau Twins, The Gun Club, Elton John,
Bongwater, Rhye, Blood Orange, Bill Callahan...
I'm a long-time user of last.fm

of my musical tastes.
