My Self-Summary
I'm a kind-hearted man with joint custody of a delightful 6-year old girl.
I am a fan of French culture and cuisine. My daughter goes to a French Immersion school and it's amazing to hear such perfect little accents coming from the mouths of these youths! It's been helpful for my French as well.
I’m really good at
I'm very good at puzzles, both physical (those metal puzzles or game blocks or untangling cords) and mental (word problems, logic puzzles.)
I'm the only person I know that can consistently 5-star as a vocalist in Rock Band. I may not be the greatest rock vocalist, but I can match pitch!
I'm a board game fanatic and have a varied collection of vintage american and interesting eurpoean games.
Before my daughter came along, I was an active stage actor/director. I studied theatre at several univeristies, did a little bit of professional acting, and then settled into directing community theatre. It's almost time to get back into that.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'm pretty obsessed with David Bowie's Heroes and listening over and over again to youtube videos of his concert in Paris. Audiobooks during a workout. I'm really into male/female duets ... probably reflective of my search for a new woman in my life. Morningwood pretty much falls into this camp as well.
When it's late at night and I just need some background music, I'll usually pull out Damien Rice, Pre-NPG Prince, Pre-Discotheque U2, Indie/Alternative playlists and 80's remixes for nostalgia.
I don't own an iPod ... I have a Zune. I think that makes me "counter-culture" at this point doesn't it? :)
I'm a big Doctor Who / Torchwood fan that downloads the BBC airings off the internet so I can watch them both immediately and without commercials!
My favorite book I've read recently is George R R Martin's Fevre Dream. I really loved the insight into the Mississippi steamboat era with a pretty refreshing Vampire tale woven into it. I'm still fascinated from reading Les Miserables as a youth and I read fluffy thrillers in the off hours.
The six things I could never do without
A day without espresso is a less vibrant one. I'm particularly fond of capuccino which is odd as I originally couldn't stand milk froth, but now that I put sugar into them, I really enjoy that sweetened, slightly crispy froth that develops.
