My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've led an unusual and interesting life to date, and would like to find a partner in crime with whom I can share the future. Extremely well-travelled (over 60 countries on 7 continents so far), no stranger to excitement (racer of cars and sailboats, plus pilot of gliders), published author, lover of music. Intellect is keenly important to me, as is a certain worldliness. Spelling and grammar count! A typical Capricorn: loyal, honest and conservative to the bone.

I am principled, smart, and try to live the meaning of integrity.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
A few years ago, I completed writing the biography of my father (a hero of WW2 mentioned in at least 10 books), who died in 1979. It was published in the UK in late 2009, after 18 years of research and some major shocks and surprises. (HOORAY!) And the paperback edition was released in September 2011. So I'm spending a fair bit of time dreaming up ways to promote the book. Apart from that, working and travelling. A lot.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Nothing in particular, but I am just plain good at a lot of things. Actually, I am pretty good at chocolate. I've worked in the food ingredient field most of my life, including a 5-year stint at the biggest industrial chocolate manufacturer in the world. I am therefore considered a world expert on chocolate. Seriously! :-) I'm told that I give a pretty good massage, that I'm an excellent travel buddy, and that I'm a very good hugger. Oh, and I tie my own bow ties.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I retain a lot of trivial information. Anyone up for a challenge match of Trivial Pursuit or Scrabble???
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Spy thrillers, historical naval fiction, WW2 escape stories Movies: Almost anything funny (especially Dr. Strangelove, Spinal Tap and Chicken Run, Monty Python), but especially historical drama (eg. Merchant-Ivory films) Music: Classic rock, Blues, Baroque and Celtic (a VERRRRRY long list: Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Beatles, Eagles, Doobies, The Band, Blue Rodeo, Clapton, SRV, Santana, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James, McKinley Morganfield, Robert Cray, the Funk Brothers, Sarah McLachlan, Loreena McKennitt, Clannad, James Taylor, Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, could go on forever...) Foods: Sorry, no seafood, cauliflower or brussels sprouts... :-( Favourites include: Chateaubriand for two with bearnaise sauce, crepes suzettes, thin crust pizza with bacon, pepperoni and sliced tomatoes, peanut ginger chicken, mom's apple pie, and any ice cream except strawberry. Wine: a nice vintage Pauillac with my steak, perhaps Grand Puy Lacoste; any sweet white, including Chateau d'Yquem and late harvest Rieslings or Vidals from Niagara.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Music, sailing, flying, driving, chocolate, and sleeping at home in my own bed! Also, about finding someone to hug. Getting a dog, although I can't have one right now because I travel too much. Already have a breed (Scottie) and name (Hamish) picked out.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Searching for you! Okay, I'm also probably watching a concert dvd and playing a guitar. I have 7 guitars on stands in my living room, ready to be played at a moment's notice. Too bad I can't really play very well after 40 years...but how else could I join Clapton's band?!?!?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've lost some hair on top, and I'm something of a Luddite.

You haven't lost any hair on top. Also if you have a valid passport and know how to use it. Or, if you think you compare favourably with the Rene Russo character in The Thomas Crown Affair. :-)
