My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Oh no! Look behind you! There's a Yeti!

I'm a shortish white male of the stocky, northern European, get me a hat if I'm going to be in the sun, variety. I don't like wearing shoes, and I look really (ok, relatively) good when I get dressed up in a suit. Why? Because when you spend your days in t-shirt and shorts just putting on a button-down shirt makes people say "damn!".

I love reading, music, and I like to cook. My banana bread rules, but only because I can follow the Cook's Illustrated recipe. I can also prepare an entire Thanksgiving dinner without burning most of it.

I spend most of my time working, reading subversive websites, watching movies and reading books.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working towards my eventual escape from this particular tax farm.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Nothing practical. I mentioned the cooking. I still need a recipe to follow, but I'm getting better about that. A real cook can take whatever is around and make something edible.

Actually, my code is pretty tight, I read well, and I usually speaks good too.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have been told that I have pretty eyes. Not in a prison context. I have squealed like a pig though. Not in a "Deliverance" context.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I hate questions like this. The following are examples:

Books:
Mostly science fiction/fantasy.

Books I can read over and over (again, examples only):
Most things Pratchett.
L. Ron Hubbard's "Mission Earth" series. (I am not a Scientologist, and had never even heard of Scientology until long after reading this series.)
The Lord of the Rings (I'll admit it, I've even read The Silmarillion)
A Confederacy of Dunces

Political Books/Essays I REALLY like:
For A New Liberty
"The Constitution of No Authority"
Democracy, The God That Failed.

Movies (I can't stress enough that these are only examples):
Idiocracy
All of "The Man With No Name" flicks.
Pulp Fiction (I took a girl to see this once and she walked out in the first 15 minutes. *sniff* Such a loss.)
The Godfather movies (except the POS Sophia Coppola directed. She made it up with her later films though so I'm not going to bad-mouth her)
The Princess Bride
Better Off Dead
Street Trash
50 First Dates (I'm not kidding.)

Shows (I can live without most TV):
Futurama
Metalocalypse
The Boondocks
The Venture Brothers
(do you sense a theme?)

Music (this one is difficult):
The Dead Boys
Pink Floyd
The Monkeywrench
Slim Cessna's Auto Club
Nouvelle Vague
Willie Nelson
Bud E. Love
Oxford Camerata
Julie London
Ace Cannon
The Pandoras
The Ventures
Iron Maiden
(pick a genre, there's probably something I like)

Food:
Mexican
Indian
Japanese
Nepalese (holy crap! It's like a combination of Chinese and Indian...it's bitchen!)
Ethiopian
(I'm going to stop now, I'll eat anything. I have eaten deep fried maggots. I've had worse things.)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Indoor plumbing (you keep your iPhone and dysentery, I'll keep my running water)
Books
Friends
Good Food
Music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I think way too much about the economy and politics. It's like a scab I can't stop picking at. Luckily, thinking about it means I'm not usually talking about it so that saves people quite a bit of annoyance.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Doing the same thing I did on Thursday night. The fun stuff happens on Saturday like roasting pigs, playing poker, watching movies with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I always get teary eyed at the end of 50 First Dates.
