My self-summary
Occasionally cranky, always opinionated. I try to stay amused by my own absurdity--and everyone else's.
What I’m doing with my life
I teach the Youth of Canada about Old Things--art history, mostly. Which is kind of like normal history, only prettier.
I’m really good at
Sleeping. Petting cats. Cooking. Drinking Manhattans. I make damn good brownies. And I make genuinely fucking amazing cornbread. But then, I am a Southerner so it must be in my blood or something. It's either blood, or bacon grease.... Perhaps they are the same thing?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books--yes. I'm never without the latest London Review of Books--it's basically the thing that helps me retain my faith in humanity. Reading more Gerald Durrell, who always makes me happy. And makes me want to visit Corfu.

Music--yes. Lots. I find Morrissey's hair inspiring. Also, Patrick Wolf's red shoes. I think I want to be Kate Bush.

And I recently saw a fantastic record from the 60s entitled How To Belly Dance For Your Husband. The improbably perky bosoms of the Dancing Lady and the armchair-reclining (presumed) Husband are Epic.

Movies--yes. Lots. Things I like: Withnail and I. The Devil's Eye. A whole slew of other things I'm too lazy to list. Anything involving Stephen Fry. As for TV, the sillier, the better. I suffer from an excess of general seriousness, so I self-medicate with silly things like Archer. Also wine.

Finally: the meaning of life is Butter.
The six things I could never do without
White wine.
Red wine.
Pink wine (don't judge--it's not all shitty zinfandel).

Also, Butter.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
When will I learn to make bread? People tell me it's not as scary as I think it is, but I am still intimidated by yeast. I don't like the idea of being responsible for other living things....
On a typical Friday night I am
Basking in its Friday-ness, any number of ways--with friends, with my cat, with my book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once tried my hand at penning a silly romance novel. There was going to be lots of sword-fighting and cross-dressing. I got bored, but it was fun while it lasted.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 32–40
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
If you don't think mentioning the existence of a feline--or an advanced degree in the humanities--is dude kryptonite.

Also, if you can spell. Seriously. I like words in their full, unfettered glory--not in text-message-speak. So confining.
