My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Musician, biotechnologist and naturalist with the heart of a hippie ;)

Zen Buddhism and neurophilosophy are my go-to's when I feel lost and need to make sense of the world.

I find that I have far more interests than I have time to explore, but I appreciate a mental or physical challenge because it is the best way for me to feel present.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work at a biotech firm which does research in cancer, and neuroscience. I help design computer systems which serve that purpose. One day I hope to start my own business in the same vein.

Outside of work I spend a lot of my time in a music studio that I built up over the past few years. My main passion is electric guitar, but recently I've become obsessed with sound synthesis and audio engineering. My studio is beginning to look more like an electronics lab and I'm TOTALLY OK with that! I also love playing drums and bass guitar. Yes, I sing a little bit too :)

Health and fitness is also a priority of mine. Over the past two years I have put in a lot of work at the gym and with my diet to gain 22 pounds of muscle. There is no substitute for hard work, and slow progress is still progress!

It is not all work, though 😊 Rock climbing, going to concerts, and playing PS4 entertain me!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Guitar solos. Rolling spliffs. Building fires. Cooking meat.

I'm also a bird whisperer.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Neuroscience or philosophy (Pinker, Dennett, Damasio, Churchlands); but I would love to expand my horizons into classics and history. Suggestions plz?

Movies: Sci-Fi thrillers are my favorite. Comedy and horror are also good. If it has Tom Cruise or Will Ferrell in it, I'm going to watch it.

Music: Foster the People, Led Zeppelin, Chvrches, St Lucia, Poets of the Fall, Odesza, Dream Theater, Massive Attack

Food: ALL. Not much of a sweet tooth unless we're talking cookies. Which we should. Cookies.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-six string
-an engaging book
-drum machine (I have an iOS app to record all my mental beatboxing)
-a knife (don't freak out, it IS the best all-around tool...)
-social time
-a rock to climb (metaphorically and literally)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How much can't can a white girl can't if she literally cannot even right now? On a scale of one to even, can she? Literally?

Srs answer: Beatboxing in my head. Daydreaming about the brain and behavior, biology, geology, cosmology... Relationships with other people, and how interesting, dynamic, beautiful and complex human beings are. I don't need fantasy, religion or fiction--reality is as mysterious, exciting and *weird* enough for me to contemplate.

I also spend a lot of my head space analyzing the negative pressures which modern technocratic society brings. Living in SF showed me that there is a severe lack of basic social interactions; they have been traded for Instagram likes and constant energy invested into maintaining image on social networks. We have traded oxytocin for dopamine hits in a way, and it is making us both addicted and depressed in the long run.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out seeing live music or a DJ
Rock climbing with the crew
Or in my sanctuary, watching a movie or playing guitar
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
It doesn't take much for me to open up, but you have to express interest first ;)
