My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I appreciate simplicity and honesty, mixed with elaborate story-telling and aching belly laughs. I have wonderful people in my life whom I am certain I will know through to old age. These are the things that matter to me, though there's quite a bit of bullshit that can be distracting along the way. So, I do my best to live genuinely.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living it as true to myself as I can. Which means what, exactly...
...I've learned I prefer quiet gatherings more often than large parties. I get great joy from sharing seriously goofy moments with people. In those moments, people are open and not self-conscious or concerned about how they look. And that is very refreshing in this city of fashion and art and wealth and one-upping. I've lived in Brooklyn for 11 years, and yes, there are the usual things about this city that can drive me crazy. The things I love about this city are: neighborhood coffee shops with great aesthetic and energy where exchanges with strangers can happen seamlessly; the kind and smiley man who runs the 24 hr. vegetable store/bodega who quit smoking after 30 years and is encouraging me to do the same; nodding hello on the street to the owners of businesses I support; the diversity of languages I hear daily; the bus driver that welcomes my hello when I step on and my thank you when I step off; buskers on the subway platforms who are incredible, dancers on the subway cars who are talented; walking and walking and walking; history and architecture on every corner; excellent friends.

My job: I manage a hotel. I experience a lot of different personalities, I try to learn something about being a person from each of them. Sometimes I want to tell the really unpleasant ones my analysis of why they are such an unpleasant person-- which teaches me I want to get better at letting things roll down my back.

I'm practicing presence, I'm thinking up creative projects to execute, I'm dreaming up quick trips out of New York that make a zipcar membership worthwhile, I enjoy my bicycle rides. I like sleeping in.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Creating a space.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I frequently remind people of someone they know. They probably notice I'm not a threatening person and so they open up and feel at ease.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My glasses, pens and paper, toothpaste, laughter, and those really good songs that just make everything amazing.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I want to relax when I'm not at work. I think about what I can do to have a relaxing day, but is that putting too much structure on relaxing? I think about fabric combinations and color schemes that would go well together, a fun hobby of envisioning rooms.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I pretty much do whatever to suit whatever mood I'm in.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't think I'm defensive, but maybe I am and I've been fooling myself...?
