It's a new year, a new computer and a few new tax categories, so I
thought I should update this profile as well.
I have a masters degree in
anthropology with a emphasis on
Caribbean
archaeology.
Of course, I will not be using most of my education in this field
in the future (see below).
I am divorced. If this presents a problem to anyone reading this
profile, that's fine. I'm not offended, and feel free to hit the
back button on your browser.
I am
Lutheran.
Most of the tests on here are rather amusing but that one that
labeled me a liberal Christan is right on the money. So if you are
someone who thinks that these two words don't go together, you
probably wouldn't get along with me.
Despite living in an urban (or suburban) setting for nearly ten
years, I love the outdoors:
camping,
backpacking,
climbing,
canoing, and just generally being
outside.
I'm a geek. I'm probably what you'd call a geek of all trades,
master of none. Which keeps me from being too obsessive about one
thing.

Having found myself departing from
Chicago where I have resided for the
last ten years, I am once again in central Pennsylvania. I am now
at Penn State, picking up my certification for secondary education
in social studies. I may continue onwards in my ever-lengthening
university career and get my PhD in history. But, that will be a
few years in the future.
I hate these questions. But, since they asked, I'm a natural speed
reader (at somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000/wpm). I take
standardized tests really well. I'm a fount of useless knowledge.
My height/weight. I'm 5'10" and roughly 135 lbs. This makes me
either appear taller than I am, or gets me labeled such flattering
adjectives as beanpole (or something similar).
My beard. I'll admit it, I have a boyish face. And without the
facial hair, I'd look about twelve. I grew out my beard to look
older than my students when I was a TA in grad school. I'll keep it
to look older than my soon-to-be students.

(a) Fiction -
Lord of the Rings,
Neuromancer et al.,
American
Gods. (I could keep going, but thats good for a start).
Nonfiction - Mismeasure of Man, Ordinary Men, Distinction (A few
that have had a big impact on me).
(b)
The Shawshank
Redemption,
Indiana Jones (required for us
digging types),
Heat.
I'll list more later.
(c)I'm a product of the nineties. Lately I've been listening to a
lot of old Alice in Chains. Oh, and my favorite bands are
LIVE and
Smashing Pumpkins (thanks
to my Chicago days). But my overall taste in music is pretty wide
ranging, from Classical to Alternative.
(d)They honestly expect me to list those. I'd be writing from now
till eternity. I just love to eat, period.
I haven't completely scared you off by the time you finish reading
my profile.
