I am a music geek, picky about spelling, and a political nerd..

My Self-Summary

i love music, and have my own site (www.iheartmusic.net) where i often give away free cds. i live for discovering amazing new bands, and going to really great shows, and suddenly feeling connected with the whole world just by virtue of a few well-placed chords and some nice vocals.

i'm really picky about spelling and anal about grammar. i can't stand using upper-case letters. i love to write and to ramble.

i'm fairly political, though this has, unfortunately, decreased since i stopped getting a newspaper every day.

i have the most wonderful, lovely, vegan hippie wife, and i met her right here on this site four and a half years ago!

What I’m doing with my life

Working at an ad agency, running the aforementioned music site, putting on concerts, and living with the most wonderful girl in the world (and our kitty), whom I met on this site.

The girl, that is, not the kitty.

I’m really good at

listening to good music. listening in general, for that matter.

i'd also like to think i'm good at writing cd reviews, if the hatemail i've received from lousy musicians is any indication.

The first things people usually notice about me

My mutton chops.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a) jk rowling. lemony snicket. michael chabon. philip pullman. jasper fforde. i need to read more, but can't find anything really great.

(b) a couple of newer movies (particularly eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and anything by wes anderson), but mainly anything with cary grant or jimmy stewart, or by hitchcock.

(c) All kinds of bands you've probably never heard of (and if you have, I'd love to meet you): basia bulat. sunparlour players. born ruffians. the bicycles. relief maps. famous lovers. barons & lengthy. amos the transparent. the rural alberta advantage. these electric lives. Also, much more popular bands, like handsome furs. the national. final fantasy. sufjan stevens. But nothing quite matches the thrill of hearing someone totally new and different.

(d) delicious vegan feasts, especially if they feature faux-chicken and chocolate mint soy ice cream.

The six things I could never do without

the basic necessities of life (air/water/food/money/shelter/clothing)

music (shows/my cds/my stereo/my Zune)

laptop and internet access

books

friends/family

my kitty, my wife and our lovenest

Editors

I spend a lot of time thinking about

music: what to listen to, what to listen to after that, and where i'll find new bands.

On a typical Friday night I am

Watching an old movie and playing scrabble with my wife.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I met my wife on this very site -- we've been together over four years now! Go OKC!
