I am sweet, neat, and hard to beat.

My Self-Summary

I'm Matt. Is that enough? No? Crap. Well let's see where to start...I was born and raised in Ohio. I followed my brother to Kent State. After graduation I followed my parents to North Carolina. Sometimes I feel like I need to break free and do my own thing. Other times I feel like I already have because a city does not create one's identity.

I have been to probably 3/4 of this country but only Canada when it comes to other countries. I know that the cool thing to do is international travel and I say that when you buy me a ticket, I'm there. I watch Amazing Race religiously just to make sure that I'm ready.

I am afraid of spiders, snakes, dark alleys and combination locks. My biggest pet peeve is passive aggressiveness, which can take many forms.

I like sports (baseball and football especially). I like watching tv shows (especially when you can watch the whole thing on dvd instead of waiting for those pesky weeklong breaks between episodes). I enjoy reading and writing but hate arithmetic. My favorite drink is orange kool-aid. I like meatball sandwiches. Taco Bell might not be mexican but it's still damn tasty. I will eat spaghetti on the first date. If you can't handle me looking like a dork with marinara down my white t-shirt, how will you handle it when life gets hard?

I feel like no matter how much I write in here you'll not really know me til you say hi, so I should probably stop now. Done. The end. Promise.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm working two jobs for about 50 hours a week. One is sales, the other is retail. Yeah, there's a difference. I'm saving up so that in a year's time I can make a decision about that whole "break free and do my own thing" thing that I mentioned earlier. I'm open to finding a reason not to. That's where you come in ;)

I’m really good at

I'm good at writing. I'm good at cooking. I'm good at some things that I won't list in here because I don't want my profile to venture past PG13. I'm good at making you laugh. Laugh now. Did you laugh? If not then maybe you should question the validity of all of the other information that you've learned from reading a profile that I wrote about myself.

The first things people usually notice about me

I hope it's that I'm utterly adorable but I don't know, I guess you'd have to ask them. I've heard "I thought you'd be fat", "you're cuter than your pictures" and "oh". I've also been stood up in public areas but I'd rather not know what they thought if/when they first saw me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I love kids books. Want to write them someday. The Harry Potter books, the Charlie Bone books and the Underland Chronicles are some of my favorites. I also read action/thrillers and the occasional mystery. I eschew "literature" because I believe that all the discussion and deconstruction tends to take away from some of the joy for me. Yes, I was an English major and I did read all the big dogs of literature, I just choose not to now.

Movies: American Tail is my favorite movie ever. Yeah, it's a kids movie. Deal with it. If I had to round out my top 5 I think it'd include Legends of the Fall, Batman Begins, Pirates of the Caribbean and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Music: All of my favs tend to fall under the pop/rock category at Barnes and Noble and since they pay a portion of my bills, I'm gonna say that's right. I lately can't stop listening to Weezer, Secondhand Serenade, Yellowcard, OAR, Dashboard Confessional, PlayRadioPlay!, and Everybody Else...(but not everybody else).

Food: Give me some nachos, tacos, pizza, meatballs, cheese fries, anything else that is deemed unhealthy. I do like some soup, that's healthy. Oh wait it's broccoli cheese, so maybe not. Speaking of cheese...yum.

The six things I could never do without

Food, water, oxygen, light, sleep and hope.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The past and the future but don't spend near enough time in the present. I guess that's something I need to work on.

On a typical Friday night I am

Lounging and watching tv or a movie or something like that. I've never been much of a "go out on Friday night" guy because damn I'm beat from the week.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm 27 years old and still have no idea what I want to do with my life.

You should message me if

You should message me if anything above this seemed interesting. Or even if it didn't, but you took the time to read it anyway. Maybe you want to see if I'm as advertised. Or better, or worse. Who knows? You should message me if you want to take a chance. I'm not perfect, I won't respond to everyone, I'm sorry. But if I do respond and we do hit it off, you'll never regret it.
