I am chill, funny, and smart.
My Self-Summary
Hey, ladies [get funky]. I've lived in NYC for a little over 4
years. From FL, originally, and went to college/grad in VA and CA.
Also taught English in Seoul, Korea for a year. I'm a big fan of
the city. I like it even more since I moved from midtown to
greenwich village a couple months ago. In general, i'm a very laid
back guy. I'm pretty curious by nature and like to understand how
everything really works. I watch/read a lot of news/politics, and
also science-y,techy stuff. I'm not immune to reality TV, though.
It sucks you in. I like seeing live music and my new neighborhood
is great for that.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an engineer at heart, but i work in finance now. I design and
build systems to analyze risk of portfolios. I'm also building up a
decent bonsai collection in my apartment.
I’m really good at
I'm decent at basketball. I played varsity in high school and have
been on a weekend team here for 5 years. I can still dunk a
basketball, too. This gives me great pride since I am white and 30
now. I've played guitar since i was 13 and pick it up most days. I
also excel at games you do while drinking: pool, darts, bowling. I
can also balance things really well on my finger. I have no idea
why I have this ability, but it's been there since I can remember.
The first things people usually notice about me
kinda tall, i guess. I was at the Astoria Beer Garden a couple
weeks ago talking to some strangers at our table for an hour. When
I stood up for the first time, a couple girls were astonished how
tall I actually was. The word "accordian" was used.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
All time favorite bands are Pink Floyd, Tool, Grateful Dead,
Radiohead. I will say the same thing in 20 years, i'm pretty sure.
Newer stuff: silversun pickups, santigold, battles, YYY, modest
mouse. older stuff: cure, alice in chains, pearl jam, pixies,
jane's addiction, phish.
I love documentaries. I rarely like hollywood movies anymore
(except some comedies). I usually read books that i can learn
something useful from (authors: Jared Diamond, Nassim Taleb, Noam
Chomsky). I love mexican food and really good pizza.
The six things I could never do without
a guitar
celery + bluecheese
down comforter
frosty beer
flip flops
computer
I spend a lot of time thinking about
progressive politics
the universe (string theory, spacetime, relativity)
