I am quiet, witty, and adventure seeking.

My Self-Summary

I'm a very easy going guy living in the Mission district. I enjoy cooking, watching movies, and just hanging out with friends. I'm really a big nerd, but I do a good job at keeping it under control... most of the time. :)

I grew up in Texas, but spontaneously moved to the Bay Area right after graduation. I spent a year living in Berkeley (where I discovered how awesome paneer tikka masala is), and have been in San Francisco since.

I'm interested in traveling, but I haven't done a lot yet. I've been to Tokyo twice and Stockholm once. However, I don't really like being a tourist: I'd prefer to actually live somewhere for a few months rather than just visit it for a week or two. I want to get to a point in my career where I have the flexibility to work from wherever I want.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a computer programmer working at an Internet tech startup company in San Francisco.

Before coming to San Francisco and getting involved in startups instead, I was planning on attending grad school. I enjoyed school a lot, and I sometimes consider returning. Maybe after the whole startup thing loses its appeal I'll go back!

I’m really good at

Math and logic puzzles. Especially games like mine sweeper and sudoku.

Keeping promises I make.

Procrastinating.

Dance Dance Revolution... yeah, yeah, I know. :P

Anything that requires obsessive attention to detail; e.g., cross-stitching old NES video game characters and assembling Ikea furniture.

The first things people usually notice about me

A lot of people comment on how blue my eyes are.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Ender's Game, Sword of Truth, Harry Potter. (I don't read nearly as much as I wish I did, so I generally stick to series that I already know I somewhat like.)

Movies: Lord of the Rings, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ghost Town, Shawshank Redemption, The Princess Bride, Kinsey, Up, I Love You Man.

Music: Counting Crows, Eagle-Eye Cherry, Bon Jovi, Linkin Park, MGMT, Green Day, Def Leppard, Poison, Journey, Survivor; lots more that I'll add "Real Soon Now."

Food: Indian (especially since becoming a vegetarian; mutter paneer, bengan bharta, samosas), Mexican (burritos, nachos, guacamole), Chinese (sweet and sour tofu), Japanese (avocado rolls, inari, curry).

The six things I could never do without

Friends, family, computers, a dish washer (though I managed for a year in Berkeley), public transit (I hate driving), and a thesaurus (I'm rather obsessive about not reusing words unless it's for literary effect).

Pants are pretty important too most of the time.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Shopping. I'm very picky about things, and tend to spend way too long trying to decide what the best thing to buy is, no matter how mundane.

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with friends. Often at a bar. Recently playing pool or pinball.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

(Uhh... how would it be private then?)

You should message me if

Yes.
