I am feline maoist, cat fur, and kenyan revolut'naire.
My Self-Summary
Other possible permutations of Mao/mau includes a Maoist cat, a
furry cat, kitty-kitty, fur-fur, as well as, whadayaknow, a card
game! Once upon a time, in a foggy little town on the border of
Germany and Switzerland, I played it with an old gentleman who just
recovered from a stroke... Yeah I'm very random. Perhaps this is
why I like learning languages and traveling, just looking for
random connections... If you are also excited by small things
making sense in some nonsensical way, perhaps we can have some fun
together
What I’m doing with my life
Moved out here from NY a semester ago, a grad student at CU
Boulder, making a bohemianly miserly salary by trying to make
surfer-dudes talk to each other about history. <---- That was
last semester. I'm quite excited about my students this semester.
They can talk with out you pushing the buttons, like, real human
beings!
For the majority of my time, I'm trying to cope with the
who-has-read-more-books competition of academia while sheltering my
love for the written words from its onslaught.
I’m really good at
Acting goofy and getting lost...
Now my best qualities are out of way, I'm also decent at not
backing off from trying out new
recipes, and be open about
new things in general
(well, I'm pretty open about stinky old
dead languages too) staring at
the same thing for a loooooong time: a book, a painting, the
window, my cat... Bad jokes... hmmm what else...I can't say I can
drink people under the table but I usually surprise them B-)
I really hope I'm good at appreciating beautiful things and
beautiful people. I also hope that I'm good at making sure people I
care about feel loved. But I'm always paranoid that I'm a
self-centered egomaniac.. ops, should this have gone to the "most
private thing" box?
The first things people usually notice about me
No clue... My Chinese accent when I say fuck or shit?!! People
always seem to laugh their ass off when that first happens...
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Chinese always put food first. I'm a sucker for exotic vegetables.
But I like trying out anything new. I don't eat much meat but I
probably would never be strong enough to be a vegetarian, since I
can't resist peking duck :(
Books, German Authors! I learned a darn language for them! Then
somehow I feel nostalgic for the time of
Fitzgerald,
Tennessee Williams,
Virginia Woolf. Then
Nabokov... I wish
I had read more authors who are still alive, but I can probably
only count Murakami Haruki, Stephen King, Margaret Atwood. But of
course Nabokov lives forever!
pi'tures: I like my humor dark, and I would collect
horror movies if
any. I'm a fan of
Scandinavian films (Ingmar
Bergman!) or the rest of the deified directors like
Kubrick,
Polanski... But I like not-so-dark
comedies too,
anything from Woody Allen to Monty Python to Meet the Parents. And
of course the BBC
Pride and Prejudice
Marathon~
Music: this is really hard but... I guess I have to come out ...
I'm a die-hard
classical music fan. It's not
because I have snobbish parents or anything. If you grew up in
China before the internet age there wasn't really that much good
music going for you, and classical music is some damn good music!
But what I really love is when people share with me the music they
really care about, so I get to see how they explain to me why they
are so crazy over it. That's always good memories. I'm in
particular looking forward to getting to know more about
jazz and
rock.
The six things I could never do without
books, friends,
music, colors,
scarfs, cats (cats can be good scarfs, by that I mean, living
cats). Five years ago I would have said
paint brushes and canvas. But indeed I
have survived five years without them... Shame on me...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
No, actually I can't figure it out. Where are my thoughts? I can't
find them!!! I don't exist!!!! Tears~~~
I guess I space out too much. Sometimes I conduct symphonies. Is
that thought(s)?
On a typical Friday night I am
Ideally: a good meal with friends, a
movie, chatting over
beer and
wine. Cuddling!
But any quality occasion that spices up the every-day a little bit
would be nice:
concert,
theater, checking out
exhibitions, lingering in
cafes, a
walk in good weather under
stars (Boulder has a shit-load of
stars). Yeah, all that cliche stuff. Feel
free to surprise me!
I also love to
dance
crazy and get
drunk
whenever I can afford the recuperation time, but I'm not a party
animal. I'm a pretty good party pet though, when people take me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
my god I put my real pictures on this darn dating webpage. what
more do you want!
You should message me if
if you wanna massage me
(it's ok if you don't though)
hokay, it's actually in my first box
