Oh boy. This should be interesting. How about we adopt a list
format, yes? Okay.
I will read just about anything at least once (I even suffered
through "Fifty Shades of Motherfucker Who Needs a Fist to the
Face"), but, to give you an idea, here is a random selection of the
books in my, "To Be Read" pile (which means they will be read
sometime in the next month or two):
- "Blindness," by Jose Saramago
- "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle," by Haruki Murakami
- "A Perfect Spy," by John le Carre
- "The Seven Wonders," by Steven Saylor
- "Red Harvest," by Dashiell Hammett
If I had to pick a couple favorite authors, I would have to go for
George R.R. Martin, John le Carre, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Umberto Eco,
and Steven Saylor.
My last girlfriend hated going to movie stores with me, because
I've seen just about every-fuckin'-thing. Top five movies include
(but are not limited to):
- The White Ribbon (German)
- Drunken Angel (Japanese)
You also can't go wrong with indie films, foreign films, and action
films that manage to smart (for example, "Dredd", the new one). I
also have a major weakness for Akira Kurosawa movies.
Yeah...I actually don't watch TV anymore. Haven't had cable in over
three years. When I do check out TV shows, it's generally online
(South Park, Daily Show) or illegally (Doctor Who). I also go out
for the DVD sets (The Wire, Game of Thrones, Codemonkeys...). It's
how I roll.
Alright...this is the hardest part for me, because every time I
list off favorite bands, I end up barely being able to stand
myself. But here we go:
- Mumford & Sons
- Florence + the Machine
- The Black Keys
- Broken Bells
- The White Stripes
- Against Me
- Tegan & Sara (whose new album kicks all the ass, by the
- 30 Seconds to Mars
- The Kills
I'm gunna stop now. Ugh, I know. My iPod is a dirty, dirty hipster.
Blah. In my defense, I also have a weakness for ear crack, a la
Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, etc.
Yeah...I don't really give a shit about food. I rarely eat much,
and when I do, it's something simple that I don't have to think
about. I prefer to think about my beer, in which case, the craftier
the brew, the better.
