Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I read but probably not as often as I should, and when I read I stick mostly to the classics. The last book I read and really enjoyed is Stoner by John Williams.

I've made a pledge to start watching more movies. I tend to lean towards action movies, particularly westerns and superhero action films, even though many superhero movies are usually quite bad. I like film noir and thrillers as well and I've been known to appreciate a good drama. Two kinds of movies that I try to avoid are romantic comedies (feel-good movies in general) and incredibly abstruse art house films.

My favorite television shows are Mad Men, Justified, The Americans, True Detective, Fargo, and Arrow. Past favorites include Deadwood and Twin Peaks.

My favorite genres of music are dream pop, shoegaze, indie pop and post-punk. I like "church music," too, but a very specific kind. Think William Byrd and Thomas Tallis.

I'm kind of a picky eater, I guess. I'll try anything that looks good unless it's sea food. I have a strong preference for Mexican and Lebanese food.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Is it bad that the Internet is the first thing that came to mind? I suppose I could live without it. I'll come back to this later.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to become a better person. I know that sounds like complete bullshit but it's the truth. I want to become a better person and I want to contribute to the world. My problem is that I spend a lot more time thinking instead of doing.
