I am Intellegent, Sarcastic, and Silly.

My Self-Summary

I believe in enjoying the pleasures if life around me as much as possible. One of my major goals in life is to see as much of the world as I can. I have traveled quite a bit so far and I still feel I have barley scratched the surface. I would much rather live in a crappy apartment and be able to save money to travel than live in the lap of luxury and never go anywhere. I love to cook but hate cooking for one. I plunk at the guitar when I feel inspired but never get any better. Living in San Francisco is truly a fantastic experience for me, there is always so much going on, such a variety of people around. I secretly want to quit my job and go to art school but I can’t quite get over the money thing.

I am an intelligent and passionate person. I get easily worked up about intellectual discussion but I am level headed about personal interactions (or at least I try to be). I am direct and straight forward. I am compassionate and feel strongly and openly. I tend to approach relationships cautiously. I am perhaps not the easiest person to get to know but in the end I think you will find it’s worth the effort.

I am looking for someone who can appreciate me for who I am, who has some similar interests and some different ones. Someone who is willing to try new things, who wants to see the great wide world with me. A partner who wants to see the world though my eyes and who can let me see the world through theirs. I am looking for someone inquisitive and independent, who can enjoy the hustle and bustle of city life as well as the stillness of the wilderness. Someone who is open minded, intelligent and adventurous.

What I’m doing with my life

At the moment I am trying to be a real person. I have a supposedly 9-5 type job in the environmental industry (except that I often work 10-12 and sometimes even more hours a day, sometimes have to travel to exotic places like Redding, and do at least half my work out of the office). I love my job and the people I work for but I do wonder what else if out there, I consider going to grad school from time to time but usually find the application process too much work. I love the bay area and intend to settle down here someday but I would also like to live abroad before then.

I’m really good at

Set, the card game. (I might be good at some other stuff but I'm not sure if it counts as REALLY good, besides its hard to toot ones own horn)

The first things people usually notice about me

How the hell should I know what people notice about me. I'm not them. A better question: What do you think the first thing people notice about you is? My quick wits. At least I hope so.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: this is a hard one, I just read White Teeth by Zadie Smith it was fantastic, I haven't read a book I kile that much in years. A Suitable Boy (incidentally the longest novel in the English language)The Tombs of Atuan, The Blind Assassin, The Ground Beneath her Feet, The Book of Salt. Thats all I can think of right now, but there are oh so many more.

Movies: Strictly Ballroom, Persuasion, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (yes I know but i still love it), Garden State, Chocolat. I love TV on DVD as well particularly HBO stuff, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, BBC stuff.

Music: I decline (although you get points if you know the song from my profile name, in spite of the creative spelling)

Food: Yes I like it, pretty much all of it, except water chestnuts and blue cheese.

The six things I could never do without

Open ended question = open ended answer

Water
The sun
Friends/Family
Books (apparently I am addicted to narrative)
A kitchen
A towel (At least that's what I read)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I spend a lot of time thinking.

Some stuff I think about: Holes in movie plots, merging the economy with environmental concerns, how to improve whatever situation I am in, words.

On a typical Friday night I am

Grabbing a beer after work with my co-workers, friends or both.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I hate being asked what music I like or to pick the music for a party or road trip, I find it personal and rather invasive: like people will judge me by my music choice. It sounds like something of an irrational fear but I suspect its more true than people admit.

You should message me if

you are intrigued by my profile, you are an intelligent interesting, outdoorsy, reader looking for someone to have adventures with. You have been somewhere cool and want to tell me about it.
