What I’m doing with my life
Sold all my belongings and toys last summer and came to Prague to escape the ultra-Capitalistic U.S. with the KFC, McDonalds, and Starbucks on every street corner.

I may have come to the wrong place.

Kidding, kidding... no actually. I graduated last year and decided I needed to do some traveling - found out about the whole teaching English thing and after some Googling, chose Prague as my ultimate destination.

Planning on doing this gig for a while, then going for a Master's in Germany eventually. I'm also trying to learn German, so any and all language help is greatly appreciated.
I’m really good at
Memorizing useless facts.

So if you need to know the capital of Burkina Faso or how many takes were needed to film the stairs scene in The Shining, I'm your guy.
The first things people usually notice about me
I used to think I was tall, then I came to Prague and feel severely diminished. I swear there's a 7 footer on every street.

So for now, I guess people seem to notice my American-ness. I rarely get a "Dobry Den" and most people seem to know they can start with English just by looking at me. Any advice on how to alleviate this would be greatly appreciated. I don't enjoy feeling like a foreigner.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a lover of film, so it's hard to summarize, but here are the ones currently in the back of my head:

In Bruges, The Assassination of Jesses James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Shining, Hugo, The Fall, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Synecdoche New York, Children of Men, The Darjeeling Limited

Shows - Breaking Bad, Arrested Development, The Walking Dead, Six Feet Under, Game of Thrones, Parks & Recreation, The Daily Show w/ Jon Stewart

Books - American Gods, Siddhartha, Hitchhiker's Guide, Ender's Game, Dune series, World War Z, Call of the Wild, A Song of Ice and Fire

Music - I take pride in the eclectic nature of my music, I don't think anyone should disregard any genre of music based on a pre-conceived idea. Here's what I've been listening to lately:

Sufjan Stevens, Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club, Shakey Graves, Beirut, Local Natives, PAPA, TV on the Radio, Elliot Smith, The Kinks, The Velvet Underground, Seu Jorge, The XX, Wu-Tang Clan, Imagine Dragons, M83, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Temper Trap, Selah Sue, Erykah Badu, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Electric Guest, LCD Soundsytem, Corey Smith, Portugal. The Man, Ratatat, The Black Keys, Nappy Roots, Weezer, Daft Punk, Tom Waits, The Tallest Man on Earth, RJD2, Radiohead, Radical Face, The Postal Service, The National, Johnny Cash, Jimi, Gorillaz, Sinatra, Wilco, Dr. Dog, Cold War Kids, The Arcade Fire

Food - Anything, preferably in stupid-large portions. It also must contain meat of some kind. I wish I didn't rely so heavily on the need for chicken/beef/pork/fish to be a key part of my meal, but until I can find a good replacement, I'm stuck in my ways.
The six things I could never do without
My Computer - Being a non-Czech speaker, if I didn't have this precious commodity to keep me in contact with home and give me directions around town, I'd be quite fucked.

My Kindle - I highly prefer real books. But I can't argue with the convenience, especially when all of my current possessions can easily fit into two small suitcases.

Skype - Family & friends can be summed up with this one too. Keeping in contact with them keeps me relatively sane.

Reddit - Shamefully, yes. I spend a stupid amount of time on this website. But hell, it keeps me up to date on world events and pictures of cats doing human things.

Is 4 Ok? Yeah, I think 4 is good enough.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to pronounce "ř"
On a typical Friday night I am
At the pub, trying to convince everyone to stay and not go to Retro or Chapeau Rouge.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think I might miss my dogs more than some family members back home.
