My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Wait, scratch that; Most of the time, I'll catch myself staring off into space and wondering just how that documentary I saw once got that shot of ants creating their own raft to survive a flood and then inevitably someone will call my name and I'll expect to look around and see my middle school classroom, but really I'm an adult and have been for a while, so I'll find myself face to face with my boss expecting me to explain why it's 11:30am and I've been standing in the same place since 9.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Up until really recently, I was a Bookmaker and a Photographer in Toronto for about 5 years! That was pretty cool and it's weird to think I'm on another timeline now. Past timelines included a stint as a carpenter, a strange foray into acting (I really wanted to be a professional competitive improviser, because I was great at it, but it turns out agents want you to do things last minute and I hated doing that for people I didn't like anyway), some graphic design work and some awful, regrettable few months as a personal assistant.

Now I live in downtown Ottawa working with this really cool startup in the area! Future plans include breaking into the social media sector and doing that kind of thing but really I just want to walk somewhere. It doesn't matter where, as long as I can walk there and meet people along the way. If they let me take their picture and write about them, that's cool. But not a deal breaker.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
You know that little voice in your head that says stuff like 'Ah, no, don't do that alone, that's so lame.'?
I'm excellent at ignoring that and doing whatever I want all the time.
There's that Bob Dylan quote that goes something like "A man can count himself a success if he wakes up in the morning, goes to bed at night and does exactly what he wants in between."
I'm good at following Bob Dylan quotes.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
This all depends on whether I have/haven't shaved my face.
Apparently, nearly everyone I know keeps a detailed mental image of what sort of follicle covering my face sports at any given moment.

If it's not the beard thing, then most people will usually notice that I've picked something interesting up off of the street and they'll be like 'Why do you have a small golden Buddha statue in your hand?' and I'll be like "Can you believe some joker was throwing this thing out!?"
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I've read '1984' at least as many times and occasionally insert Newspeak into ungood conversations. Larry's Party, A Walk Across America, The Decline and Fall of Practically Everybody, Calvin and Hobbes, various encyclopaedias and/or anthologies. National Geographic. Kind of like a book? Many, many books over a long period of time.

Movies: I watch a lot of 'em. Always. A somewhat unhealthy amount, but no one would ever be like, 'That guy needs to slow down on the movies.'
Favourites: The Party (1968), Once, Forrest Gump, The Way, Way Back, The Station Agent, The Intouchables, The Warriors, The Thief of Baghdad, Lars and the Real Girl, The Room. ... I'll stop.

Shows: You name it. 'The Simpsons' are my all-time favourite.
'Arrested Development'? Marry me. 'Parks and I Rec'? Love it. 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'? Dee and I were made for each other. 'Modern Family'? I study those Phil-osophies. Top Gear, Extras, That 70's Show, Seinfeld, Freaks and Geeks, Bob Ross' The Joy of Painting, Northern Exposure, Rick and Morty
They're all in my rotation.

Music: In extremely condensed form: Marvin Gaye is my go-to favourite. Dude could jam. Current favourites depend largely on the season.
Summer: Sam Cooke, Wild Nothing, Tanlines, Cut Copy, M83
Autumn: The Swell Season, EarthWindAndFire, Miles Davis, Chet Baker
Winter: Long Arm, Active Child, Nat King Cole, Ryo Fukui
Spring: Raphael Saadiq, Mayer Hawthorne, Eli Paperboy Reed

Food: Yea! Sure. All of it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Pocket Knife/Hankerchief
2. Cooper, my red bike.
3. A handmade journal I keep notes in.
4. Licorice.
5. Good hikes on Sundays.
6. Solid night's sleep.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
If 'Family' is determined by the size of box of cereal one can eat on their own, then call me Dad.

If they hustle EVERY DAY, what is their home life like? Pretty bad I bet can't hustle doing the dishes.

My biggest fear is having all my hard drives fail simultaneously and losing all my seasons of The Simpsons talk about nightmares oh boy.

It's probably good to be single because when they make a movie about your life you can save money on casting.

"You mean I had to take a shower for THIS?!" -some kid I overheard on the street who gets it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Sometimes I'll go eat burgers.
Seeing as I've just moved, usually exploring the neighbourhood. Finding alleyways and walking down them because screw you darkness, I'm not afraid of you.
Planning trips. One of my big wants for the new year is to travel loads, so taking small weekend trips to Quebec or New York or a provincial park is a Friday night thing.
I don't know! Every Friday's different. Suggest stuff to me, I'm usually game!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a serious desire to sell/throw out everything, pack up a bag and go be homeless around the world for a while. I tried once, it kind of worked, and I'd like to try it again. I could leave everything I own pretty painlessly and I'm sure my friends would understand.
