My self-summary
I turned 37 on December 15th, 2013. There isn't much to add that won't be included below, and I'm not one to come up with clever introductions or to use tired clichés, so feel free to skip ahead. I have lived in Lincoln since the Fall of 2000. I came here to get a Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Nebraska, and I never left. I live with my 29yr old brother who has Cystic Fibrosis, but since he has been in the hospital more frequently lately, I am trying to get used to living alone again.
What I’m doing with my life
I hold two degrees in the field of Political Science, but I have a job that has absolutely nothing to due with the subject. I don't especially enjoy it, but it pays the bills. I don't like to complain about it, and I don't let it define who I am as a person.
I am a member of the Lincoln Lagers Homebrew club and a contributor to Nebraska Beer Blog, and I try to brew a batch a beer at least once a month.
I participate in a Fantasy Football league, but not the usual sort of one. This one is an English Premier League Fantasy League that is affiliated with Jake's Cigar Bar in Lincoln.
I am also in the process of helping to organize a few benefits to help raise money for my brother's double organ transplant. We raised over a $1,000 at a private craft beer bottle party recently and two local craft beer breweries are selling christmas ornaments to raise money for his transplant fund.
I have also decided to rediscover my faith and try to attend mass on the weekends that I am not home brewing beer.
I’m really good at
Useless trivia: I have a collection of trivial pursuit games.
Rocking out while walking/jogging
Lifting and loading home appliances and other heavy merchandise into people's vehicles.
Arm wrestling
Explaining craft beer styles to regular beer drinkers and current political events to people who aren't actively engaged in politics.
I'd also like to think that I am a pretty good brewer and a decent singer
The first things people usually notice about me
I would generally say that it is either my mustache or that I look eerily similar to Dave Grohl. It kind of depends on my hair style and how much facial hair I currently have on my face. I get asked if I realize how much I look like him alot, but I would actually say my thin physique or my eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like Philip Dick and Kurt Vonnegut novels, but I haven't read many books lately. I have slowly read the Oxford Companion to Beer by Garrett Oliver over the last year, and plan on reading a few more beer related books before I try to pass the BJCP exam.
I am generally fairly picky eater, since I mostly eat meat and potatoes meals, but I do make a conscious effort to try a broader range of foods. I also like extremely spicy asian and hispanic cuisine.
TV Shows: I channel surf more than I actually watch anything, but I do enjoy watching Soccer and College Football.

Music: I listen to a lot of music from various genres. I don't listen to commercial radio stations and rarely listen to KRNU. I am an avid consumer of blog sites and listen to Spotify when I am not listening to one of the many albums on my external hard drive or in my CD collection.
The six things I could never do without
Music, trying new beers, at least one cup of coffee each morning, my family, a few close friends and some form of friendly competition on a regular basis.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
beer recipes, the health of my brother, human apathy, political ignorance, the ineptitude of most of the people I work with, sex and what I am going to eat that night. I'd generally say basic stuff or that I don't really know, but those are some of the topics that definitely pop up in my mind.
On a typical Friday night I am
At Jake's for a craft beer tapping. I also enjoy the First Friday Art Walk.
I’m looking for

You should message me if
If you like or want to learn about craft beer, enjoy politics, don't loathe Soccer and are not averse to men with facial hair. I'm quite partial to my mustache and I would love to help at least one woman get into home brewing.
p.s. If you really want to meet me, just send a message. I'm courteous enough to respond to at least one message.
