I am funny, quirky, and artistic.
My Self-Summary
You know what's ironic? I'm a writer (it's a hobby) but when it
comes to "describe yourself" things, I never know what to say. Half
the things I write I delete because they sound so silly. So what is
a Megan? I'm a geek, but not many know it when they look at me. I
grew up with comics and video games, and it's what I love to do. My
degree is in computer graphics, and hopefully someday I'll actually
get to use it working for a game company somewhere.
I love to play tennis, volleyball, softball/baseball, and run;
although I don't often get a chance to do any of those things. As I
mentioned before, I love video games and even review them for a
website. I love being out with people, with friends and family, but
I also like being in a more personal environment with
friends.
Since I still get some messages from guys, let me direct you to
the word at the top of this page. This word is "gay", which in my
case is synonymous with "lesbian". Which means I like other
women. ;) I know I apparently don't look or "read" as one (so my
other lesbian friends tell me), but I am lesbian. This won't
be changing, guys, so please don't try, 'kay? Ok, done with the
bold text...now. This isn't to say guys can't message me for
friendship, but that's all the further it will go.
I recently started dating a fantastic woman, so friend-seekers
only please! Ok, I swear no more bold for awhile. ;)
Anyway, back to the rest...
I don't smoke or drink, and I'm looking for someone who's similar.
I would be all right with some drinking, like occasionally or
socially, but I can't stand the smell of smoke.
Open-mindedness as well as an intelligence about a person is also
very important to me. I love talking about various things, current
events, history, past, media, culture, etc. I'm liberal minded and
I care about many of the issues that are being debated. I come from
a religious and conservative background, so I'm pretty well versed
in their arguments. However, because I am very liberal, I often
have a hard time relating to people who are conservative. It's hard
enough maintaining a basic friendship with those friends of mine
that are conservative, dating a conservative is totally impossible
for me. (Yes, there are lesbian conservatives. Yeah, I don't get it
either...) This isn't to say conservatives are bad people or their
opinions are invalid, but their opinions are certainly often
wrong.* ;)
Wow...after writing all that, I hate what I wrote. I'll have to go
back and fix it later.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I'm trying to get a foot into the door on something I'm
more interested in, such as writing, graphics, art, or some
variation. I'm an ameteur photographer (minus darkroom) and writer.
I write for a gaming website, giving reviews, writing articles and
so on. I'm also working with my roommate to eventually put out a
web comic, probably about gaming and geek life in genera. I'm
thinking about doing a comic that's a little more serious about a
lesbian and her life (based loosley around mine). That's still very
much in the early stages though, so I'm still trying to figure out
a premise and such.
I'm very conscious of culture, especially
feminisim in relation to cultures of
the world. I'm passionate about many things, but this is a subject
I am more so than most; often writing my views in my media blog.
I’m really good at
I'm a pretty artsy person, though down to earth. Well...mostly
anyway. I'm good at creative things, such as drawing, computer
graphics, photography, design, and writing.
I love to cook, and I'm pretty good at it. It's odd, though since
I'm kind of picky on foods I like, but I'd cook pretty much
anything. Well, as long as it smells good. If it doesn't smell good
I think I'd have a hard time doing it. Like kumla...seriously, I
have no idea how my ancestors survived eating stuff like
that.
I'm also really good at listening to others. I love talking with
people, even if it's a stranger on the phone. If the opportunity
presents itself, I can get into long conversations with just about
everyone. With friends, I can talk for hours about anything. It's
really interesting and fun to do seeing how long conversations
last.
I'm also really good at multitasking. I'm often reading something,
watching tv, and talking with various people online or on the
phone. I wouldn't have it any other way either.
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently my eyes. I usually use my eyes to see through, so I'll
have to take people's word for it. :P
I'm also pretty small for my height. I know it sounds weird, but
it's something my friends tease me about.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Where the Red Fern Grows, To Kill a Mockingbird, Lord
of the Rings,
Jane
Austin books, fantasy/scifi novels (The good ones
anyway...vague, huh?). I actually will read pretty much anything as
long as it's decently written and maintains my interest.
Movies: Le Fableux
Destin D'Amelie Poulin, Serendipity, Imagine Me and You, Lord
of the Rings, Amadeus, Shaun of the Dead, Serenity, The
Incredibles,
Music Greenday, Dido, Nickelback, some pop, some rock,
classical, symphonic, soundtracks. I like a lot of music other than
country (hate so much!!) or the overwhelming majority of
hip-hop/rap.
Foods Pizza, various cooked meats, salad, mexican foods,
some italian...I'm actually fairly picky when it comes to foods. I
do like enough variety that I'm not totally boring cuisine
wise.
Tv shows (why aren't they listed?): I watch a lot of the
ones that aren't aired on the regular networks, like Battlestar
Galactica (the new one), The L Word, Stargates, Mythbusters, Dirty
Jobs; some that are on networks, like Scrubs and Heroes. And quite
a few that aren't made anymore, Firefly, Alias, Quantum leap...and
a lot lot more.
Games!: (Also should be listed)~ As a gamer, I like quite a
few: Legacy of Kain series, Halo, Silent Hill, Resident Evil 4,
Eternal Darkness, Beyond Good and Evil, Dead Rising, Metal Gear
Solid, Mario Kart and too many more to list.
The six things I could never do without
1. Friends. I don't really have a family, so my friends are my
family. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have friends. 2.
Internet. I talk to a lot of the friends who don't live in town on
the internet. 3. Phone. For the same reason as internet. My friends
are very important to me. 4. Video games. I love gaming. :D 5.
Love. It's cheesie, but it's true.
Hmmm...that's all I can think of at the moment.
*Wow, I had two threes for like, two months and no one even
noticed, myself included...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm always thinking a lot, about how my life is going, how much I
miss my family. I think about my future a lot, what I'd like to do
eventually, such as settle down with someone I love and have a
family, design my own home, and have my own business. I think about
my friends, how they're doing. I think about my life often, how
things are, what I would change if I could. I often remind myself
that even with everything that's happened, things have still turned
out well for me. Finally, I hope that things will always turn out
all right for me and those I love.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, like at the movies, a restaurant or shopping when
possible. Otherwise home curled up, watching TV or a movie,
sometimes alone, sometimes with friends. I don't think there's a
typical Friday night for me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
My hands shake slightly due to some nerve damage when I was
younger. One winter our driveway was frozen over so my sister and I
had to go out and try chipping off the ice. My dad didn't want to
use salt because it "hurt the grass". Since I was the oldest, I
pounded the ice (ineffectively, I might add) while my sister
shoveled. After doing that I went back inside and discovered my
hands were shaking like crazy when I tried to draw. It eventually
subsided, but there has always been a little bit of tremors there
ever since. The doctor's really don't know why, but I'm guessing it
was nerve damage because of repeatedly slamming the shovel into
solid ice.
So because of the slight tremors people often think I'm nervous or
cold when I'm not. The tremors are kind of annoying since it does
make doing detailed things more difficult sometimes.
You should message me if
I'm pretty open on who I talk with. I'd love to meet new people,
and especially look for love. Some say it's silly to look for love
on the internet. I say "what's the harm?" When it comes to a
relationship that's more than friendship it helps a lot for both I
think, to have a lot of things in common. I don't think everything
needs to match up perfectly, but I do think that to be able to
relate to someone, be attracted to someone on many different levels
helps so much. So that's who should message me!
