More than almost anything else in the word, I love words: books, lyrics, puns, a turn of phrase. I'm constantly fascinated by language and what it can/can't do. I think that's kind of important to know about me. I speak two languages, because I almost got a PhD in Germanic Literatures and Languages (English and German, for the record). Now I teach kids to read, full time. It's exhausting and it's great. I still want to get a PhD someday - I like being a teacher, but I love being a student.
I grew up by the beach and New York City, but I chose Philadelphia for my home, because I came here once when I was 11 and thought it was just the coolest place. I lived in Germany for a little while, too, and adored it. I can't wait to go back. If you ever get the chance to go to Berlin - just go, don't ask questions.
Let's see...I'm learning to swing dance. I love nail polish and Ferris Wheels, red wine and whiskey. I once cut my sister's hair and she still has the scar (rim shot) (no, really). I've broken five bones, but I've never had stitches. My family has a dog named Chewbacca. I know how to build a door. One time, I accidentally yelled "Hey, there's a line, buddy!" at Bruce Springsteen. I find myself to be overly opinionated on topics like children's books and high-speed rail lines. If you wanted to meet someone new, you'd go somewhere with other people that share your interests - I think the Internet can be that place. I love dogs and airports and books and tumblr.
I believe it's really important to be kind. To everyone.
