My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a total nerd. I love learning new things, trying different foods, traveling to foreign places, reading cool books, magazines, stories, and watching movies. I enjoy live theater, opera, musicals, dance, and concerts. I probably see at least a dozen concerts a year. I generally try anything once such as climbing waterfalls in the Dominican Republic and jumping off 20-foot cliffs. I have an encyclopedic knowledge random pop culture detritus. I love to cook and make most things from scratch. I play competitive dodgeball and kickball. I have discovered that I am super awesome at elementary school games; sadly, I have also discovered that I am inept at more traditional games like volleyball or softball.

For four years, I climbed through abandoned warehouses, hiked up embankments along highways, and stood in dirty puddles as I observed a doctor care for the homeless people for a nonfiction book manuscript. I learned a lot about medicine and gained an understanding of how people become homeless—and developed greater empathy. Since then, I have been a board member of a local nonprofit, which provides housing and services to homeless people and those with mental illness. My trunk is full of coats and socks for homeless people.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I spend a lot of time watching robots or talking to doctors about things like hand transplants or teratomas because I am a freelance writer and editor. I write a lot about science but sometimes I get to write articles about actors, musicians, or art.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Reading, writing, dodgeball, kickball, cooking, parallel parking, listening, walking my dogs, being understanding, being an awesome friend, using semi-colons correctly, listening to public radio.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'd like to think my wit, but I am pretty sure it's something else.

Out with friends at dinner, party, bar, movie, or concert.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I like Ke$ha. The shame I feel is overwhelming. But, this has a lot to love in it.

If you're intelligent, funny, generous, and passionate about something. I don't care if it is Dungeons and Dragons or tea cozies, I think it's important to be moved by something. I am super passionate and enthusiastic about writing, reading, volunteering, music, and it would be cool to meet someone who feels passion as intensely.

Or, if you, too, are bothered by the blatant overuse of "alot" in profiles.

Or, you've read the MaddAddam trilogy or the Southern Reach trilogy. I am looking for a good discussion.
