I am friendly, mellow, and creative.

My Self-Summary

I'm a pleasant, friendly, easy going slender cauc. who loves to read, (NO tv), laugh at and learn from the comics page, do Sudoku & other puzzles, Scrabble & other games, singing harmony, singing karaoke, being on stage, playing guitar & just cruising. Good conversation over a cup of coffee (OR nitecap, tho' I don't drink that much), cuddling up & makin' out (I was too shy in high school, and never got a hicky...) I'm spiritual, but not religious. I really enjoy doing what I can to help out - wether it's moving day (Gawd, doncha just HATE that?) to just BEING there when you need someone...
My roommate is my best friend, like a kid sister. She was born blind, is very independent, and we're compatible, but platonic. I get to help her out in so many ways, like read her bank statement, make sure she wears colors that sorta match, (no aqua with bright orange). Even tho I feel that all I do is taken for granted, with an offhand "thanks" every now and then, she IS like my sister, I AM helpful, which is good for my soul, and THAT!!!
trumps the enforced celibacy any day. Besides, I just learned of research done that shows 2 things: 1) Those who attend a spiritual - based gathering 3 or 4 times a month (Catholic Mass, Buddhist group Omm, whatever) are 50% LESS likely to pass away in the the next 8 years than those who don't, and 2) Those who help get 20% more health benefits than those who are helped.

What I’m doing with my life

Proud to be a survivor. During these down times, I'm working MORE. I now want to work less and find the time, resources, and know-how to record the music I've written. And write that book... other than the job, working around the house/yard, I'm looking to expand my social network, find a friend or two (maybe a gf, if the right person came along)
Time to BE, not DO...

I’m really good at

1) Planning. I love to plan things out. Doing them? Who's got time? Plan 10 things, do 4 or 5, and I win! I did 4 or 5!
2) Listening. And being that shoulder you need.
3) Playing guitar and singing. A decent voice, many years on guitar, and together, the total package is very pleasant.
4) Telling a good story. Especially a good joke.
5) Thinking outside the box - ways to make it/do it - better.

The first things people usually notice about me

how friendly and cheerful I am, & how long my hair is.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: a sci-fi series by Jaqueline Litchtenberg, revolving around the House of Zeor.(They really make one THINK!) Any good historical novel. O.Henry short stories. An intelligent romance. Richard Bach. Tom Robbins. Dragon Riders of Pern, just for fun.
Not really a movie fan, but 3 stick out:
Sweet November (1968) w/Sandy Dennis (NOT the ruined remake from the 90s)
Mel Brooks' High Anxiety
Pleasantville (1996 or 97)
Love music (many styles) except opera, rap, disco.
Raised on Big Band, Peter Paul & Mary, & the Beatles. Also love any artist that I can sing along with in the car: Queen, 5th Dimension, America, Carpenters, Paul Simon, Aimee Mann.
Not a real foodie. I eat for the same reason I take my car to the gas station - to keep going. I do enjoy beef stew, turkey, cheese burgers, Italian, middle America fruits (like raspberries)

The six things I could never do without

Success is measured, not by what we have, but by what we've given away because we no longer NEED. (Easy to SAY.) One thing I cannot live without (besides our Creator) is a clear, creative mind. Anything else, I will eventually adapt to..... A better question is 6 things I need to be whole:
My music, freedom, my best friend, reason for existence (purpose, goal, however you say it), kind words exchanged, and some pleasure (a good cup of Kona coffee, or a sweet kiss)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Solving the problem of the moment. Being creative. The song I'm currently working on... Kissing. Sex. Life's BIG questions. Kissing. What would make America/the world a better place? and what can I do (besides vote)? any feminine interaction, like kissing... But mostly I don't think, I just DO, with a song going thru my head in the background...

On a typical Friday night I am

happy to be cruising: at home with my platonic room mate (Scrabble game), or catching up on the busy week, or doing nothing and enjoying it, listening to UH baseball on the radio (my one sports weakness), or talking story with a friend over coffee or a drink.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have dressed up for Halloween, and enjoy it. (How come ladies can wear pants, and it's o.k., but guys can't wear a skirt without being labeled as wierd, queer, or both?)

You should message me if

you are like me: friendly, cheerful and intelligent, and would like to meet for conversation in person. No expectations, no promises. BONUS POINTS:
1) enjoy wearing a pretty dress or skirt (my weakness)
2) not looking for a one night stand, but not looking for a LTR only, either. Aim towards being friends, and see where it goes from there. Let life surprise us...
