I am animal, vegetable, and miracle.

My Self-Summary

Amateur explorer; I will someday wade through Florida's marshy backwaters and brave an Alaskan winter. Originally from a small town in the Bay Area, I'm relatively old-fashioned, easily charmed by good manners, liberal in politics, am completely thrown by anyone who's ever grown their own food or made their own beer or cheese. I will someday do the same, and then some. I love old treasures, Appalachian and Southern ballads, a well-told story, handmade things, and making use of the US Postal Service.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm finishing up my undergrad as a Geography/Environmental Studies major at UCLA, waiting to see where the wind blows me next...with grad school distantly calling to me. At the moment, I'm also fumbling with self-teaching myself banjo, going to as many square dances in LA as I can, and learning how to grow vegetables on the west side.

I’m really good at

writing illegibly, weaving through crowds. I'm also pretty good at having manic bursts of energy at night, usually leading to staring at traffic from my rooftop or driving aimlessly down Santa Monica, Westwood, or if I'm lucky Fairfax, trolling for an open diner and a cup of coffee.

The first things people usually notice about me

Hmm, it really depends on how tall they are.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: This Side of Paradise, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius

Movies: Annie Hall, Eternal Sunshine, Adaptation, Mermaids, Loves of a Blonde, The Royal Tenanbaums, Virgin Suicides, and all that pretentious French new wave arthouse bullshit

Music: The Carter Family, Joan Baez, one man blues, Rolling Stones, T. Rex, Velvet Underground, Art Tatum.

Food: Food is my saviour.

The six things I could never do without

trusty pen
Ira Glass

These two are the only things I need in life.

On a typical Friday night I am

staying in or out, having some laughs I hope.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have a terrible memory, am simultaneously repulsed and captivated by this website...I have a soft spot for good whistlers and Larry David.

You should message me if

you're a mountain man with a penchant for adventure.
