My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Nerdy do-gooder is probably the most succinct way to describe myself. The nerdy part is that I love horror/sci-fi movies, board games, and video games. The do-gooder part is I've been working in education/social services since college and have volunteered regularly in the community since high school.

As for what I'm looking for in a guy, someone to go through my netflix queue with me or go on random road trips with would be nice. If you hang out at board game stores and comic book shops or have a favorite episode of This American Life, that probably means we'll get along. As for values, we don't have to agree on everything as long as there's a similar basic belief in being compassionate and conscientious :-)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I moved back to Sacramento in summer of 2012 after being away for 10 years. I've met some great people and bought a cool little house (built in 1914!). I have an amazing job working with farmers markets to bring affordable fresh produce to low-income communities. I'm not really into the club scene and my roommie, who met his GF online, recommended I give this a shot, so here I am!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm a good listener. I'm also pretty good at helping people find jobs. I missed my calling as a career counselor.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
In a professional setting, that I'm assertive and serious. In an informal social setting, that I'm shy and goofy.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My friends, the internet, city life, good conversation, red wine, and learning.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything! Silly things (what if I could make my arm come off and flail about when I get scared like some lizards do with their tails?) and serious things (how can I make my community a better place?) and everything in between.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Lately, a typical Friday night for me has been getting together with friends to play board games (my favs are Lords of Waterdeep, Eclipse, and Settlers of Catan) or hang out in our neighborhood dive bar.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My dog is going to be 13 in December. He is in great health but when he passes on I am definitely going to be sad to a totally undignified and borderline inappropriate extent. Don't worry, I'll keep it to myself.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You should message me if you think we have enough in common to have good conversation. Ask me a question or tell me something interesting about yourself (but don't send me a one word message like "sup" or "hey"). If you don't know what to say, send me a message about something that made you smile recently and we'll take it from there :-)
