My self-summary
OK, so major life event happened a while back and I guess I get to tell perfect strangers about it on the Internet.

I'm going to be a single-dad in August of 2014.

I actually prefer to think of myself as a soon to be kick-ass co-parent but that'll be a story for a different day.

Since I'm in the "hey, I'm clearly a winner" kind of mood here's the rest of the full disclosure. I live with my mom, it has a lot of nice perks to it but I like to think I'm being a good son - she's had some health issues and it's pretty important to my brothers and myself that one of us stays close by enough as a "just in case."

Now if you're not scared away by all that here's some other interesting facts about me:

I can't dance but make up for it with enthusiasm.
I love random trivia and learning things.
I cook pretty well.
I eat better than I cook.
That's why I run.
I think the world is more complex than we give it credit for but simpler than we expect it to be.
I smile every day, even when sad and I do it genuinely.

I'm also tall, tend towards the sarcastic and at work try to make small connections with customers over the cash register; maybe I ask where they last used their airline miles, maybe I compliment them for looking better than their driver's license picture. Either way I think it's appreciated. :-)

I do great conversations over email, small conversations over text and my real life conversations run the gamut and depend on how quick whom I'm conversing with is.

My favorite time to listen to NPR is right after the supreme court comes down with a few decisions and I think they were dead wrong in the Hobby Lobby case as you can already see it being interpreted far wider than Alito expressed in his majority opinion.

Well, I think that's enough talking right now. Rock on you shining stars!
What I’m doing with my life
Currently working at the family business of being a nurseryman. So most days I haul plants, answer questions about plants, haul pavers, sell veggies and generally try not to screw things up. Oh, I also drive a tractor. very important that last bit.
I’m really good at
being weird I suppose. I make inside jokes and will often reference something that's tertiary to the subject by multiple degrees of separation. I also like big words.
The first things people usually notice about me
I dunno. Physically probably my height, talking to me that I tend to joke and be weird.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - fantasy and sci-fi - very happy over how the genre is now being taken seriously again and has grown up a bit. Love Game of Thrones, Kingkiller Chronicles and Ender's Game among others. Movies I tend to fall in the same path, love the summer blockbuster season.

I've never read David Sedaris but hope he's 1/2 the humorist that Pat McManus is.

I like most kinds of music but prefer recorded to live. My Pandora station has - among others - Harvey Danger, Flogging Molly, KT Tunstel, Woodkid, Placebo, The Cure, The Smiths and others. I also think Thriller is one of the best made pop albums ever and would listen to it far more often than the entire Nirvana song catalog if forced.

My favorite food is probably BBQ'd ribs, but I also love a great Pad Thai or Pho and I like cooking as well.
The six things I could never do without
Outside of you know, that whole hierarchy of needs thing I prefer to think of 6 things that make my life easier:
Sleep
The Internet - this is adding a device to view it on
Good Books
Sex
Open Sky
Good Food
I spend a lot of time thinking about
As you might have figured out from the whole "impending dad-hood" deal above that yeah, that's of big concern. Everything from the legal ramifications of being separate parents to how good a dad I can be and what I can pass on to him as he grows up. There's a lot of questions there.

In not so serious stuff, was wondering today if Chip and Dale's: Rescue Rangers would have had a different aesthetic theme had Tom Selleck played Indiana Jones. I'm not going to explain that to you, but if you get it, then you should probably message me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably at home getting some sleep early - I normally have to be up by 6am at the latest on Saturdays to help run a stall at our local farmer's market.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have an unfortunate by well reigned exhibitionist streak.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–38
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You want to work out together. You enjoy hiking. You want to meet my dog. You wonder why the Klamath Basin has such huge potential but still hasn't managed to capitalize on it and want someone to talk with about it. I dunno, maybe just you want to and think I'm cute?
