Long-term, I'd also like to pursue medical/science illustration. I've lost most of the skill-set I initially developed as a studio arts major, so I'm trying to get back in the game. Let me know if you have any good digital illustration resources.
I've also recently adopted a kitty. We take turns overwhelming each other with affection, interspersed with periods of intense interpersonal conflict. Companion animal adoption is one (and possibly the only) social cause I am FULLY behind.
I had to donate almost all of my books to the library last year (it's a long, sad story). The books I kept are Bradford Angier's "How to Stay Alive in the Woods", Lewis Thomas' "Lives of a Cell" and Norton Juster's "The Phantom Toolbooth".
I love epic, deliberately-paced movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey and There Will Be Blood. I'm trying to work my way through the Criterion Collection, chronologically.
In my early twenties, I was a recording engineer AND a snobby, High Fidelity-style record store clerk. I now no longer think musical taste is a reliable barometer for personal greatness. Lately, I find that I'm listening to mostly optimistic rocksteady, dub and other Jamaican music from the 1960s. I will also karaoke anytime, anywhere. My go-tos are "Kiss" by Prince, "My Cherie Amour" by Stevie Wonder, and (if I can convince someone to do a duet) "A Whole New World" from the Aladdin soundtrack.
Savory over sweet, always.
