An unconventional soul raised in a small, rural community in northern California, populated with hippies, hicks, and pot growers, yet a proud member of an ancestral lineage of accomplished authors, professors, politicians, and artists. The product of this mash-up is someone who straddles both worlds and doesn't completely identify with either but strives to appreciate and experience the best of both. It has also taught me to see the world through a lens of meaning, humor, kindness, consciousness, and a bit of hedonism.

I'm someone who prefers to run around and stay physically, socially, and intellectually active by surrounding myself with like-minded outdoor enthusiasts, and smart, witty, kind, generous contrarians who give a damn.

Recently returned to the Bay after spending a handful of years in our state capitol doing the policy/politics thing, a very fulfilling experience, especially when your bills are signed into law. I'm now leveraging this experience as an in-house lobbyist (not the smoky room, money in brown paper bag kind) for a solar company who wants to take over the world.

I work a lot but don't really mind since I love what I do and enjoy learning about the complexities of energy (physics!) and energy policy. Otherwise, I'm an avid rock climber, tennis player, road rider...love to cook, appreciate art, film, reading.

doing what i say. fixing stuff. making strangers feel like friends. minimizing my carbon footprint. collecting mid-century modern furniture. using pinch holds and tiny ledges. distracting myself. devouring information, ideas, news, politics. analyzing and over-analyzing. pretending to be a curator of fine taste and low-brow humor.

My disarming smile...people tend to randomly give me $20 bills.

I like it all, especially if it's smart, witty, self-conscious, irreverent, fresh, seasonal, spicy, and topped with a deep electronic beat.

Recently finished "Freedom," "A Visit from the Goon Squad," and "Super Sad True Love Story". Dan Deacon in concert was a one of a kind experience; Hardly Strictly is one of my favorite music fests. City of God, Diving Bell and Butterfly, Park Chan-wook's Old Boy trilogy, Wong Kar Wai films, David Lynch...some of my favs.
