I teach and study high energy theoretical
physics, which basically says that I'm
interested in and spend a lot of time thinking about the 'big
questions' such as the existence of the universe and the nature of
reality.
metaphysics.
I love to
travel. I
have driven across the country nine times, hiked in most national
parks in the country, traveled through nearly every country in
Europe, and I have lived and practiced in Buddhist temples in Japan
(although I currently
meditate not as often as I should). I
have never been to the southern hemisphere (that's next on the
list). I love
nature (hiking, biking, swimming,
camping, and just the general serenity of being outdoors), as well
as food, beer, and MUSIC! I'm a drummer at heart and will never
pass up a chance to rock out in a mosh pit, but I also enjoy
dancing in the club.
I go to
Burning
Man every year, and creating big metal art with blowtorches and
power tools is a great way to balance my time in the office.
Living life to the fullest, of course! Continually searching for a
steady balance between work and play.
I teach college physics. Eventually I'd like to end up at a small
private school where I can establish close working relationships
with the students and have freedom to pursue my own academic
interests. I think I'll write some books too.
Accomplishing my goals. Partying like a rockstar. Setting things on
fire.

Love tons of movies, but not sure how to pick favorites...I really
love
The Crow,
Braveheart, and Mortal Kombat. Basically I enjoy watching
explosions, special effects, martial arts, and beautiful women
(yes, I am undeniably a little boy when it comes to movies). I
guess I have low standards when it comes to being entertained, but
I also am really into anything that is complex and thought
provoking.
And food, well yes, I love it. Anything that goes well with beer or
wine, which is pretty much everything. I generally try to eat
vegetarian, but won't refuse a bbq.
intersecting 6-dimensional D-branes, topological compactifications,
collisions of expanding bubble universes, the nature of the
existence of time, the unfolding of spiritual evolution, and our
purpose in this universe.
Also I spend way more time thinking about what I'm going to do for
Burning Man this year than actually doing it.
Rocking out.
I don't have any secrets.
You're interested in hanging out or talking or whatever. I just
moved to the area and looking to explore with new friends.
