My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My name is Mark. I'm a textbook Aries, an INTJ, a computer geek by trade and hobby, and a former professional (now hobbyist) fire performer. I'm from NJ originally, spent the last few years in North Carolina, and just moved to Brooklyn. Absolutely loving it here.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Having just sold my house and nearly all of my possessions, I decided to conquer my big-city-phobia by moving here and work in a tech startup. I LOVE traveling (spend last summer backpacking Europe) and can't wait to do more of it. I just started writing a comic strip (currently just a facebook page:, which is proving to be a fun creative outlet.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Building websites.
Poi spinning (like, REALLY good)
Organizing parties.
Memetic propagation (Tell your friends about me!)
Katamari Damacy.
Learning things (I basically view everything that I learn as an opportunity to optimize learning itself).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Not sure, I'm not other people
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
"Godel, Escher, Bach," "Metamagical Themas," and "Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies" by Douglas Hofstadter.
"The Sandman" series by Neil Gaiman, Dune, The Language Instinct and How the Mind Works by Steven Pinker, The Emperor's New Mind, "The Cartoon Guide" series by Larry Gonick, A Wrinkle in Time and anything by Doctor Seuss.

I may be the only computer geek alive who doesn't like Neal Stephenson.

Fight Club
Dark City
The Fifth Element
The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded (but not the Matrix Revolutions)
The Endless Summer II
The first half of any movie by Stanley Kubrick
John Dies at the End

The Daily Show, South Park, Sex and the City, House of Cards, Aeon Flux, the Boondocks, Silicon Valley. I seem to be addicted to Shark Tank, also.

Beethoven, Bach, Haydn, Chopin, Rachmaninov, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Tool, Tori Amos, Lemon Jelly, Rage Against The Machine, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Aphex Twin, the Chemical Brothers, Anabolic Frolic, Pantha du Prince.

Japanese, Thai, Indian. Generally anything spicy (I used to live on a ghost pepper farm, so my capsaicin tolerance is crazy high). And I really like licorice.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Learning new, cool stuff
Regular exercise
Long, daydreamy walks
The American Dream (yes, I said that)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to build a Turing-complete theme camp. How to optimize human language so that we can actually produce higher-level social structures without a hierarchical command structure. Sex, sex and more sex. The nature of free will. Grokking (not sure if that counts as "thinking," but I believe that it belongs here :P)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
As of the time of my writing this, I have been in Brooklyn for less than twelve hours, so my sample size is non-existent.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Nope ;)
