My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi there, world: My name's Darren.

Like any person, I can be a lot of things, but a few of the roles I like to play are that of the writer, daydreamer, gamer, and hapless dork extraordinaire.

I also like cooking food, eating it, and, on occasion, trying other people's culinary creation. I'm also not afraid to try anything (had escargot, if that's any indication) and will happily accompany you on any culinary adventure you have in store. In particular I'm a fan of the deep dish pizza, the tiramisu, the lo bak go, the dan tat, and the cha sew bao (steamed, not baked). I also love exploring other places (both imaginary as a writer and real ones as a traveler) and getting introduced to new hobbies and ways of thinking.

In terms of my writing, I'm not very public as the poetry and short stories I pen are usually for other people. I've considered blogging, but am still trying to work up what I should write about (as all the geeky ones are pretty much taken!). Perhaps you have some ideas?

Other than that, I hope someday to become a kickass advertising copywriter (a.k.a the guys and gals that come up with such brilliant creations as the Old Spice Guy), a novelist, or at the very least a person that, to paraphrase the old man Buddha, can use true and kind words to change the world.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
At the moment, I'm currently taking on the world of advertising in New York while trying to come up with great, new ways take over the world. I'm also constantly trying to catch up on the past five years of geek culture and sharing my obsessions with other people.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm not the most brilliant person you'll meet (although I'm decently smart, I'd like to think), the most knowledgeable, or the most socially graceful, but I am pretty darn persistent and often myself learning through (very, very repeated) failures.

This dating site, quite frankly is no exception to that rule. I'll fall on my face (probably a lot here), but I hope you all don't mind. :D
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I'm a not-so-tall dark stranger with beautiful brown eyes, a charming smile, and witty demeanor...until midnight when it all falls apart and they find out I'm a consummate, but very lovable, dork.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Great stories
2. Curiosity
3. Different people to talk to
4. My imagination
5. Playing around
6. Good food
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The future. How to build a better ad. How to make advertising that changes the world. How to make a better world. And, hopefully at some point, you.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Trying to figure out what I'm doing over the weekend whilst my alter egos are rescuing princesses from gigantic, spiky turtles, fighting the evil Umbrella Corporation, surviving the nuclear apocalypse, and saving the world from giant, sentient robots hellbent on reproducing with humanity's genetic goo.

Also, miserably failing at being Asian. Sigh.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I still love Saturday morning cartoons and still get a slight chill when I hear the cry "Kids Next Door, BATTLE STATIONS!"

You could use a great story, a good laugh, or simply a patient and kind ear this evening. I always like to listen to people's stories and, in case of awkward silences, am always willing to tell a few of my own.
