My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey. Name's Ryan.

What can I say here that wouldn't sound overly canned? I'm a geek with a penchant for writing stories, video gaming and vegging out over the net. I over think things, I can be somewhat lazy, and I have an annoying habit of pointing out the attractiveness of other men.

I'm currently in that fun grey area of life called "getting one's shit together." I swear, there should be a "twenty something crisis," not just a mid-life one.

Anyway, I'm a fun conversationalist, a veritable font of historical trivia, a good proofreader and writing critic. If you're a writer too, I'd love to see anything you've got - I'd return the favor, of course. I'd ideally like to be a novelist when I "grow up" (as if I haven't already...)

I start out fairly shy and become confident as I get to know a person - still, I'm known for being more of a listener than a speaker, so feel free to talk my ear right off.

I like quiet, intimate moments - mostly watching TV, going out to dinner, maybe playing a game together, or just talking about literally anything - anything that's two people-centric I'm down for.

Over everything else, take from this that I try to do right by people, and hope that they do right by me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Going through college, occasionally working at a Furniture store on the side doing data entry. It pays alright.

More recently, I'm taking my first steps into the publishing world by releasing a sci fi short story on Amazon. If you'll forgive the shameless advertising, here's a link!

I recently got another sci fi story banging around in my head that I'm working towards actually writing, so feel free to ask about that :)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing! I love to write. Mostly horror and sci-fi (both at the same time is my preference!,) but I'm willing and eager to mix it up. I also kinda enjoy learning and educating myself on the world. I like to think I'm also a fairly good problem solver, although I can be kinda (adorably, I think) slow on the uptake.

Fairly decent at making people laugh, or at least smile. Whether this is due to my innately awkward charm or genuine wit remains kinda up in the air. If you hadn't noticed by now, I'm a bit of a nerd, and if you are too then we should get along famously.

I'm very good at getting ideas for stories (usually from dreams or simply by zoning out for a while) and inevitably failing to write them down so I can remember.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a speech impediment that makes me sound kinda British-ish. Oh, did you mean physically? Uh, I dunno. Probably hair, which is perpetually messy and/or in need of a hair cut. And blue eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

It'd be easier to compress this into my favorite authors/directors.

Favorite authors: George Orwell, Bret Easton Ellis, Alan Moore, Douglas Adams, Stephen King, China Mieville, Max Gladstone, and H.P. Lovecraft. Perhaps you, if you're a writer yourself and feel like showing me some of your work.

Favorite directors: Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, Alfonso Cuaron, and Mel Brooks. And Tommy Wiseau, of course.

Music: Thomas Dekker, Muse, the Smiths, the Drums, Phoenix, Dead Heart Bloom... so yeah, alternative is pretty much the name of the game for me.

Shows: Breaking Bad, Lost, The Wire, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Whose Line is it Anyway?, Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, Firefly... list goes on, buddy. If you think we can bond over your favorite show, then go for it and recommend me some.

I've started watching Game of Thrones at long last, so if you wanna talk about that I'm also down!

Games: I'm into tabletop roleplaying - and not just DnD, so ask me about this if you're into the same shit. Cards Against Humanity is also pretty damn okay.

Monopoly's also okay!

Video games: Born and bred gamer straight outta the 90s. I'm into a lot of gaming and have logged a frankly embarrassing number of hours on my steam account. If you like games, chances are we'll get along.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1: My twin brother: Two sides of the same coin does not even begin to describe.
2: My glasses: Can't see without 'em, so yeah.
3: Books: Otherwise I'd be kinda bored.
4: The net: Ditto!
5: The ability to craft a story: As I said, I love writing, using my imagination, and transporting you to another place. It's a pretty good feeling when someone likes what I write; even better if they offer some critique that helps me grow as a budding author.
6: Politics: Actually, I could probably do without this one.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to get 120 stars in Super Mario 64. That gave me a lot of grief.

But seriously; writing, politics, the world, family, life, myself. Sometimes love. And shlock B-movies. If we can enjoy those together, I think we're good.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Reading. Maybe surfing the web. Or playing a game. Or out and about.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't really drive. I can travel by the nearby LIRR or bus service, though, so I'm not completely cut off.

If you live close enough I should be able to find my way to you, though :)

you want. You'll find I like to keep things conversational in these messages, and I can actually be kind of a chatterbox. Expect me to be long-winded and expository a lot, but in a fun way!

I'm looking for someone to geek out with - someone I'd always enjoy talking to about whatever stuff we feel passionate about. And more than anything I want someone I can feel that mesmerizing spark of romance with - this seems obvious, of course, but it's been so hard to find and even harder to actually define.

I'd also ideally like someone a little more outgoing than I am, someone with a sense of confidence about themselves - I'm a bit of an introvert myself and I find it easier to get over that with someone who knows what they're doing :)

Physically speaking, I can't really say... my taste in guys has been blooming a lot recently. If you take care of yourself (you don't need to look like an Adonis) then I think that's good enough.

I'm good to date within at least a 40ish mile radius. Bonus points if you're in NYC, Long Island, or Staten Island.

And if you just wanna talk, I'm good for that, too.
