My self-summary
I'm easy... but what is the virtue in being difficult?

Here is the part where I'm supposed to put the standard disclaimer about "how can I possibly write about myself..." Well, I'm not particularly shy about myself. I'm offbeat, intuitive, and I'm sometimes so sensitive to my environment I that I chameleon in ... I'm complex, not complicated (WAAAY different connotation!). So now that has been said, let's see how far I can stretch the language and define what a Meyowmix2-shaped box is supposed to look like.

I like people with open minds. There is something about someone who considers ideas, who gets into the process of exploration, or who just seems to know that there are endless possibilities in life. Intelligence, smarts, and wisdom are entirely different things. It's the exploration of ideas that is sexy.

If you are looking for sunshine and daisies, look elsewhere. I'm frequently sarcastic, I have a wickedly morbid sense of humor. I also love a lot, laugh a lot, and I stand unafraid of the world.

I'm a paradox in a lot of ways, and I'm quite comfortable with that. I'm a practical romantic, a sarcastic optimist, a hedonistic intellectual, I'm at turns utterly ruthless and empathically caring, I'm a mystic and a scientist.

I am one of those overeducated people- I've got bachelors degrees in Mathematics and Astrophysics, plus lots of un-guided research (I'm an automath) into psychology, folklore, physiology, gender, sexuality, religion.... sad to say, you name it, I've probably read something about it.

This self summary aside - I'm also modest and pretty unassuming. Basically I think that (almost) everything is interesting and everyone has something interesting to say.

I am intelligent, empathic, irreverant, and good on toast

What I’m doing with my life
Exploring the endless possibilities of life, the universe, and everything.

I'm currently teaching math at a community college... and I'm doing it very well. I'm also gearing up for grad school so I can become a full fledged professor. I figure this way I can graduate from being weird to being eccentric.

I’m really good at
I'm pretty good at almost everything I set my hands to, except knitting for some strange reason. Weird, huh?

I find fun in all sorts of things. Cooking, computers, mathematics, physics, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, palmistry, Tarot... all fun interests.

The first things people usually notice about me
The funny thing is that most of the time I blend into the background. What people notice first is my sense of humor. Then probably that I'm smart and really off the wall. Either that or that I tend to wear all black most of the time (almost the Seattle uniform). I'm an eternal iconoclast. I'm love sarcasm and Dark Humor.

Of late, they may have been noticing my shaved head.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Egads, I could go on for a while here... There are too many interesting things in the world to enjoy.

Books: I'm pretty much a data omnivore. For fiction I'll just list some of the authors, since it would take a long time to list all of the actual titles I like. Stieg Lasson Robert Heinlein, Tom Robbins, Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, Carol Queen, J.K. Rowling, H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allen Poe, Laurell Hamilton's early work (for BDSM novels I like "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" more), Christopher Moore, Alan Dean Foster, Spider Robinson, and the older works of Stephen King. Of late, I'm reading House of Leaves, which is fun and trippy (if you use your brain), but takes about 4 times as long to read as regularly formatted novels. Be warned, I also recreationally read math books.

Movies: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Secretary, But I'm a Cheerleader, Amelie, Pan's Labyrinth, The Red Violin, The Return of The King, Fight Club, The Grudge, RHPS, Heathers, Whats Up Doc?, Better than Chocolate, MirrorMask. I'm a fan of really good and really bad horror movies, as well as some off the wall stuff. I really seem to go in for happy GLBT movies, as well as humor with some bite to it.

Television: I don't watch television per se. I occasionally will go out and get individual series of shows and watch them, which is fun. I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, The Lost Room, and Dexter. I also Netflix a lot.

Music: I'm a musical omnivore... lately I've been doing mashups, Apocolyptica, Dresden Dolls, Rob Zombie, Ani DiFranco, Voltaire, Placebo, Violent Femmes, and Tom Lehrer. I'm also into Lords of Acid, Utah Phillips, Phranc, Poe, Liz Phair, Legion Within. My guilty secret is I've also been known to enjoy select songs by Garth Brooks and I'm kind of hooked on "Whiskey for my Men, Beer for my Horses." I can't stand opera.

Foods: SPICY!!!! I love spicy food - when I go out to Thai food, I ask for 8 out of 5 stars. Most of the time I'm more utilitarian when it comes to food. Food is fuel for the better part of the week. On the times when food becomes the focus, I turn into a complete tastebud slut. Sushi, Mexican, Thai, Ethiopian, BBQ, Italian.... It is almost easier to list my dislikes, really - cilantro and watermelon (long story). Other than that, I've been told that I look orgasmic when focusing on good desserts. (Hopefully not TMI)

The six things I could never do without
I hope I'm more flexible than having things I can't do without. Ah, well.

Friends, Freedom, Humor, Books, Showers, and Cats. How is that for a list? In my opinion, at least one application of each should be applied daily.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How about we just punctuate this statement: "I spend a lot of time thinking."

Since this seems to be begging for topics, I'll give some: atheism, Wicca, faith vs reason, relationships, sexuality, gender in neuroscience, ethical hedonism, polyamory, writing, BDSM, politics, the constitution, astrophysics, magic, sustainability, the environment, dark humor... just to start the ball rolling.

On a typical Friday night I am
Thinking up clever responses to people who insist on trying to give me religious tracts. Working out. Flossing. Planning a seduction. Being a sympathetic ear. Crying on a friends shoulder. Dancing in the dark. Thinking for myself.

In short: there is no such thing as a typical Friday night.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Ask me anything, and I'll answer or tell you why I won't answer. I'm in Mensa. I talk to my cat. I pun. I write erotica (and I am capable of not talking about it).
