My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I was once stuck on a deserted island with two friends for the better part of a day. It was actually a lot of fun. I grew up in a suburban Michigan town (with no big city) and am often referred to as a bit of a hippie. I don't think this is necessarily true, especially considering I sold out a long time ago, but I do feel at home at music festivals and the like. I'm a very social person who is close with my family and friends, but I think of myself as pretty independent too. Work is a big part of my life and I'm lucky to enjoy what I do. At the same time, I don't allow it to define's a living that one day I would like to fuse with my passions. Speaking of which, I love music, food, Wednesday night fooz and booze (ask me if you don't know), and pretty much any activity that's fun and new to me. Creativity is key.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I spend a lot of time with friends and family when I can and travel as much as possible too. Which I get to do fairly often, because I'm an international trade attorney. I live a pretty fortunate life and am trying to enjoy it as much as I can!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Public speaking, cooking, and coming up with things to do. I'm also pretty good at coming up with gift ideas. And I've been told I'm a pretty solid writer, though I think I'm horrible at creative writing. However, if you need an essay on international environmental law, I'm your guy.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a positive person, which does not mean that I'm an optimist, but rather, I try to see the positive in every situation. If you can understand the difference, we might get along.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Obviously, there are too many in each of these categories, but here are the first ones that pop into my head:

Books: Cat's Cradle, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, 1984, Candide, Calvin & Hobbes.

Music: Phish, STS9, John Brown's Body (reggae in general though I prefer roots and dub to soca/calypso, etc), P-Funk, Groove Collective, Pat Metheny, Zeppelin, the Beatles, Yonder Mountain String Band. I love music. I love jazz, funk, soul, jam bands, blues, rock, reggae, bluegrass. You get the idea.

Movies: Big Lebowski, Super Troopers, The Dark Knight, Dr. Strangelove. I'm a sucker for classic cult comedies. I pretty much love them all. Especially the ones I've seen a million times. I like good serious flicks too, but it's more mood dependent.

TV: Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, South Park, Family Guy, The League, Sunny, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Sherlock, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Sports. Lots of Sports.

Food: It's a big part of my life in many ways. Socializing, cooking, trying new restaurants/cuisines, and so much more. I recently got to cross Alinea off my bucket list. It's everything I could have hoped for and more!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music (esp live shows)
Craft beer
The internets
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Life, the universe, and everything. Really, I spend a lot of time thinking about that stuff. Politics, philosophy, spirituality, etc. I also think a lot about how to have a great time and what to do this weekend. Balance is important to me and fun is a big part of that equation.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Grabbing a couple drinks at a local multi-tap, checking out a street festival, or grabbing dinner with a few friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I kinda like Supertramp.
