My self-summary
Reviewed - January 2014 - I still see friendships rather than a 'soul mate' on my horizon. ... More interested in meeting people who are alive, active, interesting, open, honest & buoyant.
What I’m doing with my life
Accepting that I am semi retired ... but hanging in there with the 'Semi' bit and engaging in some interesting p/time consulting. Keeps brain in gear and active ....

Now single after 40 years in closed relationships, I have found it interesting that in recent years, the concept of at least considering as a relationship option, some form of ethical & open non-monogamy is being discussed (aka the newly coined word polyamory). It has gained considerable attention in the mainstream international media. I'd love to connect with, talk to & possibly/probably meet others who are interested in the subject ... Polyamory is certainly not for everyone; but then with divorce rates running over 50%, the DADT concept apparently alive if not really ethical and plain old fashioned cheating still rampant, it suggests to me that neither is Monogamy!
I’m really good at
Been told I am compassionate & supportive; been known to lend a helping hand or a shoulder - true. It might well be my way of being spiritual - but, I am not religious.

On a more down to earth note .... I have been sailing all my life; been offshore many times and ran a yacht charter operation in the Med for many years, .... today, the easy, eye-ball navigation of the BVI is a favorite sailing/charter/vacation destination - in fact as recently as December 2013!!
The first things people usually notice about me
I guess when I speak, remnants of a British accent are noticeable.

Hand in hand with that upbringing goes a Brit sense of humour - grew up loving all the humourous stage, TV & radio classics from the 50's 60's & 70's.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
2014 .... this year marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of WW1. So, choosing to read "1919 - Six Months That Changed The World". Amazing just how much I didn't know about that monumental international screw-up! And we are still living with it today ... (Think Middle East)

Also .... Read 'Sex at Dawn' recently - that certainly gets one thinking!
Fiction - good mysteries, Elisabeth George, Minette Walters, John Masters, Nicci French etc.
Movies - like well directed, intelligent, sometimes historical movies. Less action, more plot works for me.
Music .... Can't stand RAP!
Just about anything else .... classical, folk (love the 60's folk); musicals ... 50's, 60's all time favorites, swing, big band ..... if I had to choose; Ella, Frank - & all-time most sexy, to die for ... Julie London, 'Cry me a River ...'
Food? .... Just about anything; not keen on tripe ...
The six things I could never do without
French and other good cheeses
Red wine; Oh & light whites too!
(OK .. so I squeezed in a few more than 6!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
... Global issues ... & How rapidly my world is changing & at such a furious pace .... e.g. ... how we communicate with each other & share important (and OTHER!! - Duh! ) information .... If I were to even suggest that it is getting out of control ... does that 'age' me!! ?? - Maybe. In my defense, I grew up knowing Twitter as an olde English word, meaning ..... to talk about irrelevancies - As in "What was that person Twittering on about?" .... being called a 'Twit' was certainly not cool.
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing .... looking forward to the w/end.
Maybe having dinner with a friend ....
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think this comes later .... face to face? When we are comfortable, one-on-one? Ain't private otherwise.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 49–72
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
...... if any of this makes any sense to you. I am not really as mixed up as I may sound.
