My self-summary
This might sound a bit weird. When I think about past iterations of my profile on this site I realize that it was designed to meet women. I think I'm rewriting this one to meet a woman.

It's a crucial difference.

I love performing, trying new things, exploring, and being the center of attention from time to time. I get really passionate about food and superheroes. I started reading comic books when I was 26 and I don't know what took me so long.

I've lived in a dozen countries and speak three languages reasonably well. Before I die I hope to have lived in a maybe a dozen more, but between now and when I restart my serious international traveling I have to fight some student loans from business school.

I haven't had a lot of serious relationships. I've had some intense ones that didn't last very long. This is partially a result of all the traveling I did during my twenties.

I'm pretty good at keeping my promises and get irritated when I don't think someone is standing by their commitments.

Marriage and kids and things I want, in fact I aspire to them. A big part of how I judge my life is going to relate to how effective a husband and a father I've been. All that doesn't have to happen tomorrow, but that is the direction I'm going.

Being social and mixing with a variety of people is important to me. I don't think that there are groups of people that I'm too good to spend time around. I've been accused of being a social chameleon and I'm really attracted to women who can keep up with me in that respect. Because of that I get turned off fast when I hear a woman being judgmental towards others.

Despite being non-religious I think the prayer of St. Francis is one of the best things I've ever read and I've committed it to memory. (http://www.haroldberlinerpress.com/p_stfran.html)

Life's an adventure and I think that it is one to be shared. I want to see how far I go and I don't know how the story ends. I'm looking for someone to share it with.
What I’m doing with my life
Reading, traveling, performing, attending live shows when possible. Thinking about a one man show.

I'm an IT strategy consultant. I enjoy my job and travel a fair amount during the work week.

Being in the gym is important to me as is never being completely satisfied with myself.
I’m really good at
Being in front of people. I love presenting ideas, performing, and making others laugh. I'm fantastic at ignoring my tonal deficiencies and giving a rocking karaoke performance. I'm very good at keeping my word and sticking to schedules (and can lose patience with those who are incapable of doing either.)

I'm not very materialistic- most of my spare money seems to go into food and travel. For full disclosure's sake I just bought a 47 inch TV. I do really like it. I'm sure the novelty will wear off but for now it is pretty cool!

I love adventures- I've spent about half of the last decade living outside the US (East Europe, East Asia, and Latin America) and, fortunately, am pretty good at communicating in other languages.
The first things people usually notice about me
In the US I think people notice my deadpan humor quickly. I've been told I don't smile enough, and that might be right, but part of my reasoning is that my jokes are funnier if you don't see them coming.

Some people comment that they don't always know when I'm joking. I go back and forth on that, but I get really excited when I'm around people who are perceptive enough to spot one of my ridiculous statements.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love non-fiction, historical fiction, science fiction, Game of Thrones (books and television series.) I loved the new Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, The Office, Modern Family (even when Sofia Vergara is not on the screen,) and I've got a big heart for the Stargate franchise. I will not pretend to be anything but a nerd.

My favorite books, in no particular order would probably include: The Aubrey-Maturin novels, Les Miserables, The Dark Tower series, Guns, Germs, and Steel, A Hero of Our Time, and a lot of Tom Clancy's stuff. I also love non-fiction travel writing.

I love all different sorts of food. I lived in East Asia for three years and, unfortunately, that ruined American-Chinese food for me, but Star Kitchen in Denver is pretty good. I also love Japanese food, Middle Eastern food, Korean food, and spicy/strong things.
The six things I could never do without
The three things that I love more than anything else are food, sex, and travel. Whichever one is my favorite is usually the one I am doing at that time.

In between those I could not do without exercise, the internet, and the performing arts.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where I want to travel to next. The pros and cons of traveling alone. Food. Books that I'm reading. Did all my friends get into serious relationships too early or am I moving too slow? Ya know, helpful stuff like that.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm definitely done with the partying phase of my life. I prefer smaller groups of people and trying new things.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't always bring things up that are bothering me as quickly as I should. I grew up around a lot of overly sensitive and a bit unstable people and the tendency to swallow my feelings is still there. I'm working on it.

Also... I have multiple pairs of superhero themed boxer shorts.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 23–35
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
... you actually want to meet someone. I'm not here for text buddies.
... you're open minded and fun in work, travel, and bed.
... you like traveling without firm plans.
... you've ever dressed up as a superhero(ine) for Halloween (or would like to!)
... you like science fiction and don't care who knows. (or at least don't care about how much I like it! Seriously- that will never change!)
... you have an artistic side. It doesn't have to match mine (performing arts) but I need to be with someone that understands that side of me.
... you aren't outwardly bitter about online dating on your profile. We all have bad stories from OKC.
... you don't define "intelligent" as "someone who holds the same beliefs as I do." That's not intelligence and it's lazy to flatter yourself that way.
