Hey, I'm Mike. I'm a young engineering professional. I grew up in Metro Detroit, Canton, MI to be more specific. I moved to Milwaukee in March 2012 for work, so I'm new here. Be nice to me.

Gainful employment! I'm an electrical engineer at Caterpillar, but I also managed to gain some social skills somewhere along the way. I live on Brady Street, so I'm not very far from most happenings in the city.

I moved to Milwaukee in March 2012 for my job at Caterpillar making crazy big mining equipment. It's been treating me pretty well so far.

I've been traveling a lot for work, but I think it's dying down. I love traveling personally as well, and went to Japan and Taiwan back in September.

I'm trying to surround myself with interesting people who are in similar stages in their lives. I only know a handful of people in town, so I'm looking to meet other awesome people to do stuff around the city. I live near Brady and Farwell, so if you're in the area lets grab a drink or something. I promise I won't follow you home.

I want to build a pinball machine.

Listening. Or at least that what everyone tells me. I also like to think I'm pretty good at snowboarding, but I know lots of people are better. I think I'm pretty funny, but i guess that depends on your sense of humor, and if I've worn down your immunity to my terrible and constant assault of jokes (it will happen to everyone, eventually).

I'm also pretty good at figuring out subway systems and wayfinding in new cities.

I can throw a decent costume together at the last minute. I guess I'm crafty?

I'm kinda sarcastic, love puns, and tell terrible jokes to anyone who'll listen (and sometimes to people who won't). I guess I'm kinda tall too.

Currently, I think a lot about how my life is going to change in the next year. I'm super optimistic about it, but it's still scares the bejesus out of me. I'm slowly adjusting to the city, but it would be a much better trip with another person in tow.

There are a couple OkCupid pet peeves:
There are a lot of ladies that have "NO I WON'T HAVE SEX WITH YOU" in their profile. It makes me wonder how many guys actually send messages to that effect. It's pretty tacky and totally out of line. Doesn't anyone have any manners now a days? Even if I find a girl attractive that is NOT the way to approach the situation. Treat the ladies well gentlemen, you're setting a poor example!

Also, people that say "I'm not telling you anything private" on the private admissions part of the profile don't seem to get the point, and that bugs me. It can be something innocuous and silly. It doesn't have to be anything earth shattering, just something most people wouldn't know. This could be anything from the name of your childhood pet, to your favorite color. You don't necessarily need to bare your soul, just drop your guard a bit.

How funny it is that C++ is in the language section.

How little responses you get on this site from ladies. I'm sure you get bombarded with emails, but it gets kinda old sending off emails into the void. Such is life I suppose.

Mostly dive bars on and around Brady. I've also been checking out random events around the city. I'm pretty open.

I used to think that my biggest fear was not knowing what to say to people, but I think that's changed a bit. I realized that I'm not concerned about what I'm saying, but more about what people are thinking. It's kinda silly to worry about saying something wrong to someone I just met. If they would hold some statement against you they probably aren't who you want to be around anyway. I haven't been giving people enough credit, and I'm sad about that. Maybe we're all a bit jaded.

My self esteem is probably the highest it's been since elementary school, and I have nothing really to attribute it to. I like it though, and I'm excited about my future, even though I'm scared to basically leave everything I've known for the past 4 years behind.
