so I'm perhaps a bit odd, a bit eclectic, and an acquired taste for sure. That said, those that know me are glad they do.

I spent 10 years as an environmental engineer doing hazardous waste cleanups in the US and Australia before burning out on the work:life imbalance....so I took the plunge, went back to school, and retrained as an RN! I currently work in critical care, and love it.

Eating...lol. Seriously though, I love food. I love cooking good food, mostly because it combines my love of eating well with my love for the act of creating. For the same reasons, I brew mead and beer (also makes me popular among friends :) When traveling, or just out and about at one of the Bay Area's funkiest, I'll try just about anything that passes for food in that culture, at least once. Did I mention I like food??!!!

Also pretty solid in the outdoors - backpacking, camping, skiing, road cycling & mountain biking, running, climbing...just love to be active and outside with stimulating people.

I'm really good at making devoted, lifelong friends. I tend to form few deep and lasting relationships over many superficial ones.

All over the map. Currently reading Stegner's Angle of Repose....a bit atmospheric but love his sense of place. Am currently about 25:75 fiction:non-fiction since my job keeps me busy with journals and academic stuff, so I read less for pleasure than I'd like. Last three movies: O Brother Where Art Thou (house favorite); J Edgar; Alien 3 (thank you Hayward Public Library for your ever-eclectic choices in the latter two).

Musically, I love jazz, folk, Fresh Air, This American Life, Science Friday, Car Talk (KQED junkie). My best and hippest pal just dumped 3000 songs onto my Ipod whilst visiting in Boston, so I'm sure more will come from that. I will admit to retaining my adolescent penchants - Pearl Jam's Ten has to be among the best albums of all times, and I love watching bands progress (Tool -->A Perfect Circle, MLB-->Soundgarden-->Audioslave). Have been to many Phish shows and own much Dead (I did admit to eclectic tastes...!) Love CA's music festivals but haven't been in a while. Sing loudly when in the mood. Love silence and its introspection when not.

Making dinner for someone I care about; asleep in a tent or in the Subiebago getting ready for an early morning adventure; out in the city getting drinks and playing adult.

I dance like a drunken squid. Seriously, it's not pretty. there. I said it.
