My self-summary
I'm sweet & snarky. I swear like a sailor, but I promise I'm a nice girl.
What I’m doing with my life
I grew up in South Minneapolis, went to liberal artsy college in St. Paul, and spent my first year after graduation in Americorps attempting to teach high schoolers about health. These days, I'm doing public health research in Saint Paul.

After work, I run, do yoga, binge-watch bad tv, drink with my friends, and eat burgers.
I’m really good at
Walking in heels
Swimming with a can of beer in one hand.
Beating you at Bananagrams.

I've worked in customer service and sex education, so I have a thick skin and can be subjected to all kinds of weird, crazy, or just plain rude bullshit from people without crying, screaming or ceding any ground. It's a useful skill.
The first things people usually notice about me
Dark brows, big glasses, short hair, and that I look like I know where I'm going.

And/or my chipped front tooth.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: East of Eden, Infinite Jest, Joan Didion, Flannery O'Connor, Mary Karr's memoirs. I think I've read The Postman Always Rings Twice more times than I've read any other novel (Tender is the Night is probably the runner-up).

I read a lot of contemporary novels and short story collections: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1776724-miriam-rose

Movies: Blue Velvet, Singin' in the Rain, Chinatown, Bringing Up Baby, Ghost World.

Shows: Pretty much all of 'em, but I'm trying to cut down.

Music: Most. Tom Waits. Talking Heads. The Vulgar Boatmen.

Food: Spicy. I love to cook, but I have popcorn for dinner at least once a week.

I listen to Bookfight, Lady to Lady, This American Life, and Savage Love while I cook.
The six things I could never do without
Coffee coffee coffee.
I am suspicious of people who don't drink it.

Good walking shoes, and yes, heels can be walking shoes.
I was on crutches for several weeks this fall and it was a fucking struggle.

Bus card.
Headphones, books, internet connection.

Glasses. I'm useless without 'em.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The book I'm reading. When I can fit in my next run. Whether I want pho or tacos or popcorn for dinner. How to get the most out of my free time (I try not to think about work when I'm not there, but sometimes I fail). What my next step will look like. When the next bus is coming.
On a typical Friday night I am
Beers with friends, at a bar or a bonfire, looking for somewhere to dance or something to netflix.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 24–32
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You approach the world with an open-mind, a sense of humor, and a healthy dose of cynicism (I realize this is a contradiction, but I stand by it). I'm not looking for idealists or nihilists - give me a healthy balance and we can give it a shot.

On a less serious note, message me if:
- we have something in common.
- you want to do something cool.
- we'd have something to talk about.
- you're down to be friends and not necessarily fuck buddies/life partners.

This should go without saying, but sadly it doesn't: If you harass me and/or send my completely inappropriate messages I will ignore, block, and report you.
